Just Being Jake: Song Lyrics, "Narrative"

77 7 2

Chorus

This is a storytelling narrative

I, myself taking you the steps I've took

Backtracking pictures and life events and make lyrics bloom

Soon I'll be published on the streets

No longer will I sit on the curb of the streets

What I love alive and well

Verse 1

Middle of the cities for meets and greets

The eagle eye looking down on me

Sharpening in the sky, the closing in talons

Waiting for the perfect time to strike

I hold the mic to speak

Voice recorders and papers touching my face

Gossip and nightmares await

Out to the entire world my ways

Got me wearing suits and fedora's for days

From their lips blowing out the original style and image could start to fade

They say I do hip hop, I should be wearing some nike's or j's

Wear more baggy clothes and shine those diamonds

Seems like blood diamonds to me

Cuz I don't have a diamond for a heart

I have feelings and fingers to press play and record

As well as storytelling having that same piano tone

Something so smooth, sounding real good even when I get old

I'm just doing what I was always told not to

Verse 2

Cuz I had the older fella's saying know your priorities

You're young but your of that age to stop touching those dreams

Then I had the classmates saying you can't rap look at your skin

The color not of the culture

And now I tell you I'll show you the power of these words

Just when you thought I made a curve I flipped backwards

Taking these words and placing them down and walking on them

A lyrical substance, and poetical trance

Make me take it back to the early 2000's writing in the family van

When my mind took the trip into consideration

My mind set loose all these explorations

So that pain that I laid aside, that fell on the page

The beginning of the even edged space

Made a smile on the expressionless face

Chorus

This is a storytelling narrative

I, myself taking you the steps I've took

Backtracking pictures and life events and make lyrics bloom

Soon I'll be published on the streets

No longer will I sit on the curb of the streets

What I love alive and well

Verse 3

Before that smile came I was sitting on curbs of the streets

Just to think, and get mind off things

At times cars flew past and drowned me in the puddles of the rain that fell

Clothes drenched and weighing me down when I tried to get up

Clouds over my head is what overcome

Hands shaking, unable to write..just so numb

People looking at me like I'm dumb

They couldn't see it felt like I had a collaped lung

Frozen from any bodily movement, my hand couldn't run

Tryna make the words out with my tongue

Verse 4

I just knew there was something more

Along the lines of finding forever

To the sky praying my words live forever

Even when my soul lays to rest, my words live in favor

You will know me and my behavior

That feeling that comes off the paper

Making eyes clearer when they read

The food for thought that feeds

Driving in through the crease

Connecting my soul and these beats

All to show you I'm just that dude living my dreams

Expressing myself  from the inside

Taking the words and make it what I live

This isn't just a rap off to the side

Each hip hop track brings it all back

A voice that doesn't crack

My soul saying I never left

This is a book that's being written correct

Chorus

This is a storytelling narrative

I, myself taking you the steps I've took

Backtracking pictures and life events and make lyrics bloom

Soon I'll be published on the streets

No longer will I sit on the curb of the streets

What I love alive and well
