Chapter 8

Peetas pov

I walk into the private section of the restaurant and I'm not sure what to do. I see Katniss, with my dad and brothers and also the football team and coach. But they're not just their for dinner. Katniss along with the football team shaved their heads. Completely shaved off just like mine. I smile, sad smile.

"Peeta?" Katniss says with tears in her eyes.

They also hit my eyes. I really have the best friends ever.

"Guys. Why would you do this?" I say laughing and crying at the same time. They all laugh sadly along with me.

Katniss comes up to me and wraps her arms around my neck. She buries her head in the crook of my shoulder like she always does.

"I love you Peeta. We all do." Katniss says with a sad smile.

"I don't know what to say." I chock out.

"Don't say anything." coach says and the whole team comes up for a hug. Some of them have watery eyes, most of them actually. I can't believe they would do this for me. Katniss grabs my hand and leads me over to a seat next to her and Fin.

The dinner goes by a blur and everyone makes a small speech about me. Each one touches my heart in a different way. Each one of these boys are like my brothers. We've played football together since like 7th grade. Last but not least Katniss makes her speech.

"I met Peeta last year when I started junior year. He was just the cute boy that Gale introduced me too as one of his friends, at first at least. I still remember the first day I met him with his grey tshirt on and his bright blue eyes that could light up a room. His ashy blonde hair and perfect smile. That first week we had a party at Cloves. That was the first time Peeta and I kissed. I never thought that he would like me, and when we started dating I knew nobody could make me this happy ever. Even though we had our ups and downs we always stayed together. When I can't sleep at night I call Peeta and we talk until I drift off. Our movie nights when we order a huge pizza and eat it all. Our days at the beach and the mall or even just at one of our houses playing on his Xbox. His family is like my family, I love his goofy brothers and his dad treats me like his own. When I found out Peeta had aml, my world was instantly turned upside down. Literally. I've been depressed lately and not happy. I try to be, but that doesn't mean I am. Seeing Peetas face everyday is what keeps me going. He's the strongest person I know, and I wouldn't want to be with anyone else but him. I love you Peeta, forever and always." She says trying my to cry at first but then let's them fall. My eyes are watery and I can't help but smile.

Everyone 'awws' and has tears in their eyes. I can't help but feel like this is all because they think I'm going to die. I mean why else would everyone do this? it's only been like 4 weeks of having cancer. I don't tell anyone I feel like this though, but I know it's true. The rest of dinner is a blur and everyone's speeches stay with me.

"Why don't you go home with Katniss for a little?" My dad says once almost everyone is gone.

"Okay, thanks dad. I love you." I say. Once I thank everyone and say goodbye, Katniss drives me to her house.

"Prim should be home soon. She's with John. They are so cute I swear!" Katniss says.

"Okay, kat thank you so much for tonight." I say giving her a quick kiss.

We go upstairs to my room and Kat changes into one of my sweatshirts and a pair of pajama shorts.

"Wanna watch a movie?" I ask her.

"Sure," she says with a smile laying next to me on her bed.

"Kat I want to talk to you," I say before the movie starts.

"Ya?" she says worried.

"Why would you shave all your beautiful hair off Kat. You shouldn't have-" I start but she cuts me off with her lips.

"I wanted to baby. I love you." She says biting her lip adorably.

"You still look gorgeous." I say and she kisses me again until the movie starts and we both cuddle with each other.

Prim comes home and finishes the movie with us and lays at the bottom of the bed. She knew about the plan for tonight, and she has a sweet smile on her face when she sees both our heads. After the movie we talk about John, school and my cancer. Unfortunely, I go back to the doctors tomorrow again...

Katniss pov

Tonight is finally the Halloween party. Peeta and I both found our costumes and instead of superman and woman, we decided to be Minnie and Mickey Mouse. Our costumes are really cute actually. Annie and I get ready together then Peeta shows up at my house with Finnick and we eat dinner before heading off. Prim is Sally and John is Danny from Grease. They honestly are the cutest kids ever. They invited a bunch of kids over because Prim is throwing a huge Halloween party. My mom promised to say upstairs with Jacob. Around 7:30 after we help Prim set everything up, we take pictures then leave before Prims friends are over. We go to our own Halloween party at Catos's house. Madge and him have been talking for a while and I'm glad he finally moved on. We get to his house around 8:15ish. Some people are already there, but I know there are still lots more to come. I meet Madge and Johanna by the snack table.

"I still can't get over your hair brainless." Johanna says which hurts my feelings. She notices then adds, "I love it." Making me smile.

"Thanks." I say with my huge smile. i grab two drinks and head back to Peeta. We dance and kiss and dance again most of the night. People come up to us with looks of sorrow but they only make me smile more. I don't let people get to me anymore because I realized they don't matter. It's a really fun night and Peeta invites me to sleepover since his dad and brothers are visiting Peetas mom in New York until tomorrow. I call my mom and say I'm sleeping over at Annies. I feel bad for lying, but she wouldn't let me sleepover at Peeta's. At around 1, we head to Peetas house. At first we just lay on Peetas bed listening to music.

"Katniss, I love you. I alway will. You know that right?" Peeta says.

"Yes I know that. And you aren't going anywhere ." I say cuddling up to him.

"Okay Kat well-" Peeta starts but I cut him off with my lips. We start kissing more, but still gently. Peeta has one hand on my check the other on my hip. I keep both hands on his chest. I start taking off his shirt because I want this to go somewhere.

"Kat." Peeta whispers in my ear making shivers go across my body.

"Yes peeta." I say kissing him more. He starts kissing my neck and collarbone making me moan. He takes of my Minnie ears and my shirt. One thing leads to another and I'm glad I actually didn't think about Peetas cancer tonight. It's been a long time since that's happened. I'm just thankful I have my Peeta with me right now and that's all that matters.
