War

You're off over the mountains

To a country yet unknown

It comes spilling in thousands

And none of you are prone

They say you've got to toughen up

They say you need to serve bravely

Hopefully it'll be enough

And you pray that it will be

Now you just stand there

Looking at the surroundings

The sights, you cannot bear

Fly to the runway and your landing

You step outside your jet

Swearing you'll go home in one piece

But you don't know if you will yet

"Just go home alive, at least"

Breaking bones

Tearing through fields

Why'd you leave home?

It doesn't feel real

Suddenly you fall and your bloody mouth starts to foam

Fading to blackness

You whisper a quick "I love you" to your wife and kids back home

"War did this"
