My thoughts:
This book was heart breakingly great. As of July and book number 29 it is by far the best book I've read all year, so far. I started listening to it as a sort of pallet cleanser in between books in the Mortal Instruments series, and I can honestly say I didn't realize how much of a hold this book had on me until it was too late. I wish I had stopped before the book actually ended. More than anything I wish I could take what I know back. I have read many books in my time, many that I've regretted, but I've never had a single one affect me this much. I cried for two hours straight after I finished the book and it was a couple of weeks before I felt like I could move on. After I moved on I noticed things in my daily life, mostly tiny things, that remind me so much of this book. Perhaps hauntingly great would be a better way to describe how I feel about this book.
All of that being said, I do not suggest you read this book. Though I may love it I also wish I had never read it. It did truly break my heart in a way it had never been broken before. Just looking at my copy now fills me with the most beautiful ache I have ever felt. I am angry at E. Lockhart. How dare she fill me with feels.
