DRACOS POV:
I listened to the sound of the whistles blow and sighed ; another year at Hogwarts. My friends were enthusiastic about returning, but I was the opposite. I didn't want to return to Hogwarts. Well, I guess I did. I just didn't want to see Hermione. Okay, another lie. I did want to see her, but I didn't. Do you understand?
I heard someone say my name, pulling me out of my trance. I glanced up to see Blaise. He motioned for me to go with him, and I followed.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
I signed, running my hands through my hair, "I don't know. Honestly, I'm glad I get a room alone." [1]
"Yeah, I suppose that's nice. Who's Head Girl?" Blaise asked.
I shook my head, "I'm not sure. Probably some sixth year."
"I still can't believe Dumbledore made you Head Boy." He said grinning.
"Yeah, well, he's a bit of a nutter. Plus, he said that there wasn't a single seventh year with the ability to make Head Boy. Considering I'm the best male in our grade for classes, I was his first choice." I told him.[1]
He nodded, "Well, I'm finding Daphne." He said with a wink.
I shook my head, laughing. "Later, mate."
I turned a went back to our compartment, only to bump into someone. I heard a light thud and looked down to see Hermione.
"My god! Watch where you are -" she grumbled, but then froze seeing who it was.
"I'm sorry." I said offering her my hand.
She gently grabbed it, and I pulled her up. I took a moment to see how much she had changed over the summer. Her hair was a bit lighter and eyes seemed to have small flecks of green in them. She blushed under my gaze, and I realized how close we were. I had her pressed up against the wall in a secluded corner. I backed up a bit, giving her some space.
"I - uh - could we talk later?" She asked softly, "Please."
I hesitated, but nodded. She gave me a small smile and walked toward her compartment.

We all settled into the Great Hall and Dumbledore stared his speech.
"Welcome! We are glad to see so many new faces at Hogwarts this year!" He started, then explained rules.
I tried tuning him out until I heard him announce Head Boy.
"This year's Head Boy is Draco Malfoy." He announced.
The Slytherin table erupted in cheers, while the other tables grumbled in protest.
Dumbledore silenced them and continued, "This year's Head Girl is Hermione Granger."
Three out of four table boomed with excited shouts. Slytherin stayed mostly silent, except a few unknowing first years. I stiffened and clapped a bit. Theo was clapping loudly and grinning. I just was astounded at how, out of all people, Head Girl was Hermione. I understood, of course, she was the best in our year.
I remembered our meeting tonight, and I figured it'd be in the same place and time we used to meet last year.
To say the least, I was nervous.

HERMIONES POV:
Once settled into my personal dorm, I realized I wouldn't have to break curfew tonight. Draco and I could simply meet in our common room.
I fixed my hair and put on gentle makeup before heading into out common room. The room was a soft purple color with black accents. The sofas were all black, but the carpet was purple. It was very beautiful, especially when the fire was lit.
I snuggled up on the couch, grabbing a grey blanket from a basket.
The clock struck ten and I heard Draco's door click. I watched as he made his way to the portrait hole.
"Draco!" I whispered.
He jumped and turned sharply around. "Merlin, Granger! You gave me a heart attack."
I giggled and gestured for him to sit. He took a seat on the recliner beside me. We sat in an awkward silence, until I broke it.
"I - um - I wanted to say sorry." I said softly. "For turning you down last year... I just - I wasn't ready for a relationship."
He just nodded, "I get it."
"Well, we could - uh - maybe - um -" I stuttered.
"Spit it out, Granger." He said anxiously.
"We could maybe start over." I whispered.
He visibly froze, "I - um - well -"
"Spit it out, Malfoy." I teased.
He blushed and said, "I'd like that."
I grinned from ear to ear.
"Okay. Well, hello, I'm Hermione Granger." I said politely.
"I'm Draco Malfoy." He said, laughing slightly.
"Cut it out, Draco! Be serious!" I laughed along with him.
We just sat laughing for a while, until Draco yawned.
"I'm gonna go to bed. Night, Granger." He said getting up.
"Good night, Draco." I smiled and got up as well.
I gave him a quick hug and briskly walked to my room. I sprawled out on my bed, feeling happy. I fell asleep with thoughts of a certain Slytherin.
