A/N This is not a poem written in stanzas, so maybe it doesn't classify as a poem, idk, oh well. :P. Also, this is for ContestArena's unrequited love poetry contest.

Of course you cannot love. You are too special, too precious too beautiful, and scarred, and so... Unique. Everything in you emanates it. You glow with beauty and independence. What I would give to call you mine. To call that freedom and pain mine. But you would be yourself no more. That glow would die-- I've seen it. Satanic me. I masked your beauty. I hurt you, and you'll never love me. Of course not the cursed, trapped me. Enclosed in my cage of unrequited love. What I wouldn't give for you to be the one to unlock the cage and lead me out by the hand. You're the only one who has the key. So my life will be spent drowning in lakes of tears, hoping their rivers will reach your heart. Writing letters on leaves, praying they'll drift on the wind to you. Wishing at 11:11, late at night in my lack of sleep, begging to nonexistent mercy to let my love reach you, and warm your numbing soul. I love you. Save me. Save me, or I'll rot, and starve in this cage. Save my soul.... Save me...............
