The Battle of the Chimaera Part 1

The S.H.I.E.L.D. fleet saw the behemoth that lay in front of them. There were hundreds of quin-jets that flanked the massive Zephyr look-alike. They were ready to initiate Action Plan 12. The quin-jets began their forward charge alongside the Ghost. Several broke off to begin bombing runs on the massive object while the rest provided cover for them. They all dubbed it the Chimaera, after they heard what Daisy, Ezra and Sabine relayed about the strange message.

The battle began. Almost immediatly after some of the bombers broke away, they were swarmed by tens of Hydra quin-jets. None of the S.H.I.E.L.D. jets made it. The Hydra jets turned to the rest of the fleet, and began launching missile after missile. The Phantom barely managed to shoot down the 3 missiles headed straight for it. Several other jets were not so lucky. The Zephyr began firing its own missiles, knocking several jets out of the air, the helicarrier launched several of their life pods to assist the quin-jets.

The two sides of jets collided at last. Many S.H.I.E.L.D. pilots were able to navigate the chaos, while others were easily tailed and destroyed. There were still those who were able to navigate the chaos only to be taken out by the exact same quin-jet. The Phantom now had it on its scanners; it was directly behind them. Sabine sent the Phantom spiraling between some Hydra jets, but the other jet managed to perform the exact same manuver and was still trailing it.

Ezra took a glance towards the Ghost, which was oddly performing well. It hadn't taken any fire, not to say it wasn't under fire, and was dispatching Hydra jets better than the other pilots.

Ezra pointed it out to Sabine and they both had the same idea. Before they could relay what they were going to do to Hera, who was piloting the Ghost, they were hailed.

"My," said a very vengeful face, " what a pickle you're in."

"Wedge," said Sabine, "if you surrender now, we may not have to order one of our pilots to blow your ship out of the sky."

"I will only do that, if you divorce HIM," he pointed to Ezra through the screen, "and take up with ME!"

"I tried to warn you."

The communication ended. While they were talking, Ezra managed to send Hera their plan to get rid of Wedge. They flew close to the Ghost 's stern and their plan worked. They swiflty docked in time to avoid gunfire that blew Wedge out of the sky. They undocked and tried to come up with a plan over coms.

The plans ranged from take the fight to the Chimera and hope that their guns couldn't be able to tell the difference between the Hydra jets and the S.H.I.E.L.D. jets, to having the helicarrier run into the Chimera (ala Pheonix Home wrecking interdictor). They finally came up with a semi solid plan: have some quin-jets flank the Ghost and Phantom as they try to land onboard the Chimera and destroy the internal systems.

The plan was put into motion. The planes all started their path to the rear to land the two primary targets into the hangar. While the S.H.I.E.L.D. jets had weakened defenses, some Hydra jets took advantage of the opportunity to attack the helicarrier. Although the life pods were armed, they were all but helpless to defend the helicarrer. They were swiftly destroyed as some quin-jets landed and began to deploy troops.
