Chapter Twenty-One

*ONE MONTH LATER*

"Get up, Raina."

"No."

"Get up."

"Leave me alone."

"Raina--"

"Go away."

My mornings went like this every single day since I came back.

And it's been a month since I came back, making it July already.

For those couple months at the X Factor, I was living the good life.

Now it's as if almost everyone forgot about me.

Raina Thompson is now just a simple memory to America.

But not a simple memory to your friends and fans. And Finn, too.

Oh, yeah. Finn. I almost forgot about him.

Almost.

The blue-eyed boy I met on my audition.

I'm crying again.

"Raina, stop freaking crying and get a life!" Eve yells through my door.

That sounded very insensitive, but I don't blame her. I would be very annoyed with my crying, too.

But I shall pursue the waterfalls from my eyes until I see Finn again.

Ring, ring.

I guess I will have to pursue later.

I pick up my phone and clear my throat.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Raina! You've got to come over today," Sophie says. "I miss you, bestie."

"I don't know..."

"Come on. All you've been doing is wallowing around in your tears. It's time to man up and move on."

"I don't want to move on. And I'm not a man."

Sophie sighs. "Of course you don't want to move on. I'm coming over, okay?"

I could use the company. "Okay."

I hang up and flop down on my bed again when a knock comes at my door.

Why does everyone want to talk to me today? I'm kind of busy being sad right now.

"Honey, can I come in?" my mom asks gently.

"Yeah," I reply.

My mother walks in and sits at the edge of my bed.

"Where's dad?" I ask.

"He's--" my mom abruptly stops. I can see her holding back a smile. "Oh, he's nowhere."

"Nowhere?" I raise an eyebrow. "Are you kidding me? You made it so obvious that you're hiding something."

My mom laughs, which makes me smile for the first time since coming home.

"I can't tell you," she simply says.

"Why not?"

"It's a surprise."

"Fine." I slump my shoulders.

I hate surprises.

"When do I get to know what it is?" I ask.

"Soon. Maybe in a few days or so."
