⠀⠀⠀IT WAS DARK and it was difficult for George and Delilah to adjust to the new surrounding. He had brought them to the end of an empty road, with only a single streetlight lit. The weather was chilly and Delilah shuddered. They walked further into the street that revealed several large houses lined up on either side of the road, stretching out as far as the eye could see.

Delilah rubbed her arms to keep warm as she noticed outdoor lights entangled around various trees and bushes in gardens of the houses. The lights were lots of different colours that flashed in the night. Delilah realised that it must have been Christmas as she could also see decorations on the houses - Santa climbing up a chimney and a snowman putting his hat on and off of his head.

The area was a quiet place, the only sound barely heard was the rustle of shrubs swaying in the wind. George led Delilah towards one of the houses on his left. Once they reached the gate he pointed towards one of the windows. Delilah looked in, noticing that the room was lit up with Christmas lights. A large tree stood in the corner of the room with several presents scattered underneath it. A man was stood next to a woman who cradled a baby in her arms. It looked as though the pair were singing to the baby, trying to get it to sleep.

The faces of the couple looked familiar to Delilah and she peered closer to the window to get a better look. The man had dark, chocolate-coloured hair that was messy, signifying that he was too tired to comb it. His eyes were green like the colour summer leaves, with dark circles underneath them. The familiar man had a soft smile as he looked down at his child and gently stroked the baby's hair. The woman, on the other hand, looked exactly like Delilah - but this time she looked older and more mature.

"This will be you in a few years if you chose to live," George said, looking at Delilah. She looked back at him her eyebrows furrowing with eagerness.

"Who is the man," she asked George, "he looks oddly familiar. I can't quite put my finger on who he is."

George chuckled, patting her shoulder, "Why it's Sam Campbell of course. The boy who saved your life, will be the love of your life."

Delilah gasped with shock. Sam was a friend of hers and she would have never thought they would be together in the future. She looked inside the house once again, studying the couple.

"How can you know that we will be together in a few years?" Delilah questioned, never taking her eyes off the couple, "What if something happens that could change my future?"

George looked at Delilah, and then peered into the window once more, "I just know because something does happen to change your future - and that is what's happening now. If you chose to live then your future will be with Sam and you'd have a child together. But if you didn't decide to live, then your future wouldn't be the same as what I am showing you now. You would never fall in love or have any children. And you would never get to experience a great many things in life."

Delilah looked away from the window, looking down at the floor. The situation she was thrown into was a difficult one. She wanted to live. She wanted to experience life and everything that came with it. But in the back of her mind there was always the question that if she did choose to live, she could still die because of how bad her injuries were. Delilah turned to look at George and sighed deeply, her breath visible in the cold night.

"If I did choose to live," Delilah began, "what are my chances of surviving my injuries?"

George looked at Delilah for a moment. He was startled at her comment because he didn't know the answer to it. And he didn't know how to tell that Delilah without making her even more scared than before, "In all honesty I do not know. I am not a doctor, but I do know this. I know that you're a fighter, and you'll most likely get through it - if you did decide to live."

Delilah took in George's words and exhaled deeply, feeling slightly better about the whole thing.

"I think I know what to do," Delilah said, "Take me back to the hospital room."

A/N:
I know it's a short chapter but it's the build for the other chapters that are coming. The next few will be important. I don't think it'll be long till this story is completed - I think there will be at least two or three chapters left till it finishes.

A new chapter will be published in a few weeks maybe sooner than that. Till then read, comment and vote, thank you!
