In love's chains

sitting by the window i stare
out
my eyes are weary; there's no doubt
the sky must have heard my outpour
for it to weep with such
fervour
with shaky hands i wipe off the
dew
i'm not alien to this;it's nothing new
the memories i try to hide
away
come back to me as if on
replay
i remember that night
after we had that fight

i'd gone back to my
room
unaware that was my
doom
i came out by midnight
and saw your shadow in the dim
light
closer to you i went, hoping to correct the lies
but then you turned around and I saw fire in your eyes
i'd taken a step back, i remember
the look in your eyes was none i could decipher
looming over me,you struck once
shock stricken i'd asked why

yet,hit after hit was your reply
i tasted blood as i fell at your knees
you pulled out your belt;deaf to my pleas
time seemed to stand still
as you whipped and lashed and spat me
then you stopped and left
hours passed before you came back
my cheeks were swollen, my eyes black
you'd walked over to me
with steps so slow it seemed eternity

you whispered to me how sorry you were
holding me close, you said you still care
i don't know how i believed you
i am a slave to love,it's true
and so this tale goes on
how your last words make me hold on
i'm in no bliss but bruises
call me a victim of circumstances
but i stay in hope that you'll change
though that seems out of range

Thank you guys for 200 reads already!it really means a lot to me.

This poem is the longest poem I've written so far and I'm sorry if it's a little complicated but I really love this poem because of the message it's giving.
It's all about domestic violence..about a lady and a man who were in love till the day they had an argument after which the man started beating her.
The funny thing is he comes back to say he's sorry and that he still loves her so because she loves him she keeps holding on,hoping that he'll change someday.
Did you guys notice that there's no capital letter in the poem and also the alliteration in the last line of the third verse?
