A New Beginning

Chapter Four

I went into the woods and got it. I sat down to seek it. I brought it home with me because I couldn't find it. What is it?

 Sophie's Pov~ 

When I woke up this morning, I did my morning routine and headed downstairs to eat breakfast. Yum, pancakes and eggs! Later when Troy and I were both ready, we got into the car and were on our way to school.

When I got to school, I was walking to my locker when some guy accidentally ran into me..... I think. When he hit my shoulder, all of my books fell out of my book bag and were now scattered on the floor.

"I'm so sorry," he said as he bent down to help me pick up my books.

"It's ok. Don't worry about it," I replied. When he helped me up off the ground after I got all my books, I continued, "Thank you!"

"No problem," he said before we finally looked into each other's eyes. That was when I noticed how cute he really is. He had shaggy, dirty blond hair with light, hazel eyes. "Oh, my name is Jake."

"My name's Sophie!" I said as I shook his hand. "Well see ya later!"

"Um...Oh yea ok!" He replied. I continued walking towards my locker. When I got to class, I saw Kayla sitting in the back, as usual. I sat in the empty seat next to her. I told her everything what had happened in the hall. Eventually more students started pouring into the class room.

The day flew by. When I was walking to my car, I was turned around and heard a voice say, "Hey Sophie!" I knew that voice. When I looked up, I saw those hazel eyes. Jake!!!

"Hey!" I said.

"Can I have your number?" He asked.

"Um.."

"I knew I shouldn't have asked," he said quickly before walking away.

"No! Jake!" I said as I grabbed his shoulder and turned him around. "I was just shocked!" After I gave him my number, I continued to walk to the car. When I got to the car, I saw Kayla with a look on her face which meant, "Where have you been young lady!"

"Sorry, I was talking to Jake," I said as I sat in one of the seats farthest to the back. When we got back to "my" house, I got a text. Ooh! It's from Jake!

Jake: Hey

Me: Hey what's up?

Jake: Nothing really with my friend, Josh, at Starbucks.

Me: Oh ok cool!

Jake: Yep! Hey wanna come to Starbucks to hang out with us?

Me: Sure! Can I bring my friend?

Jake: Sure, See you in a few.

I told Kayla and we were eventually on our way to the coffee shop up the street. When we got to Starbucks, I saw Jake sitting at a table with. . . Josh? Kayla and I ordered a cappuccino for each of us and went to go sit with Jake and Josh.

"Hey guys," Jake said.

"Hey," Kayla said as she nudged me in the arm with her elbow. Which meant, Omg! Jake is totally hot!!!

"Hey," I heard Josh say. "I'm Josh."

"I'm Sophie and that is Kayla," I replied.

We ate and talked about school. At one part of the conversation we started to talk about our childhoods. I just sat there in silence. Kayla looked at me and saw that I was feeling awkward, and quickly changed the subject.

After we finished our coffee, we decided to go to the park. When we got to the park, we found a Frisbee on the ground and decided to play with it. After about ten minutes, a little boy came up to Jake and asked if he could have his Frisbee back.

"Sure!" Jake replied.

"You thief!!!" the little boy said as he took the Frisbee from Jake. After he got his Frisbee, he kicked Jake in the "you know where."

When we got tired of the park, we decided to go to the beach. None of us had our bathing suits on so we tried to stay out of the water. Since Kayla and I were wearing shorts, we could go into the water until it reached our knees. I heard splashing behind me and quickly turned around. Jake was running towards me and next thing you know, I was submerged under the water. Eww salty!! I knew one thing at that moment: REVENGE!!

As soon as I was able to stand up again, I ran up to Jake and attempted to push him. "What the heck man!! When did you become a brick wall?"

"Since I started working out....unlike some people," he chuckled.

"Hey shut up! I may be flabby, but I'm not fat!!" I said as I tried to push him again. Once again, I failed. We both laughed.

The day was fun but sadly, it had to end. When Kayla dropped me off, I went into my house and went up stairs. When I walked into my bedroom, I saw Troy laying in my bed, playing a game on his phone.

"Must you do that in here?" I asked.

"Sorry I got bored," He replied.

"Well go be bored in your own room!"

"My room is boring..."

"And mine isn't?"

"Whatever..." He got up and disappeared down the stairs. I walked over to my bed and plopped my head onto my pillow. Eventually, I fell asleep.
