33 Weeks Along Baby #3

Today was our first counselling session. Finn was less than impressed. We took the boys to the daycare I enrolled them in a few weeks ago and were on our way. Finn grumbled the whole way about not needing or wanting to do this. I just rolled my eyes and ignored him. We arrived and checked in sitting in the waiting room. "I don't see why we need to do this." Finn grumbled.

"Because we need to have a long chat with someone to mediate. That's why." I snapped. He shut his mouth quickly and crossed his arms over his chest frowning. We were both silent as we waited until they called for the Devitt's. We stood quickly and followed her into her office.

She shut the door and sat behind her desk. "Hello, I am Dr. Kingston. Please just call me Ava. Today we are just going to get to know each other and have a chat about why you guys are here." She said.

I nodded and she motioned for me to start. "Well, I'm Christina. Fergal and I met when we were three years old, we starting dating at fourteen. We've basically been together ever since minus the seven years we lost one another. We got married while I was pregnant with our twins sons in January of two thousand and fifteen. We recently separated and are trying to work things out." I explained she nodded and looked at Finn.

Finn of course sighed bored before speaking. "I'm Fergal, just like Chris said we've been around each other for over thirty years now and recently started to work on our relationship again after a five month separation." He shrugged.

"Okay, well lets go all the way back to your first separation. What caused that?" She asked folding her hands in front of her.

I looked at Finn and he looked back at me with sad eyes. I sighed and looked down sadly. "We had a miscarriage nearly into my second trimester of our first pregnancy. We both thought we blamed each other when we didn't and I came to the states to live with my uncle. I waited for him to contact me but my uncle intercepted it and told him not to bother. After seven years he moved here as well and we started work at the same place on the same day we had had no idea either of us were there. We worked everything out and things were really amazing."I answered.

"So let me get this straight. You two were going to have a baby sadly the child was miscarried. You thought you two blamed one another which you did not. How did you two separate?"

"He went to a friends house to clear his head, and I took his note and miscommunicated what he was meaning so I packed my things and left."I explained she nodded.

"So you packed your things while he wasn't there and left. He then tried to contact you but got a hold of your uncle who basically told him you wanted nothing to do with him, in which time you both kind of parted and did your own thing for seven years. You then go into your first days of work only to find one another again. Do I have this correct?" She asked. I nodded. "Okay. So now what caused your five month separation?"

"I said horrifying things to her. I was out of work with a shoulder injury and took my anger out on her..." Finn admitted quietly.

"Okay, what kind of things were said?" She asked and I looked down with tears burning my eyes.

"I called her names. I told her she was ugly, fat, she was a whore, she was lazy and did nothing. Then, the reason she kicked me out was because I said, 'I don't even know why I'm with you anymore. All you do is sit on your fat arse all day while I do all the work.'" He answered looking away from me.

"Oh. Wow. Okay, so I see where some of the problems are here. I can tell there are some still deep rooted issues from your seven years stint,but the big one is the prior events to your five month stint. Fergal, I think you are still concerned and upset with Christina because of the way she left you. Christina, I can see the insecurities that have been caused by the events that led to your five month separation. You two seems to be okay for the most part, but you are both avoiding some really huge issues. Call me within the next couple days with Fergal's schedule and we'll set up our next appointments. Sound good?" She asked we nodded and shook her hand gently. Finn grabbed my hand and we made our way back out.
