After the War between the Frost Giants and the Asgardians, Odin took the casket and found a baby, on on a rock. He was a frost Giant, but it's size was too small for his race.
Laufey was ashamed of his child. It reminded him too much of an Asgardian.
Odin took the child in and raised it as his own hoping it will one day make peace between the races.
The baby's name was Loki Lafeyson.
