*Above picture is Elijah*

It hadn't lasted long. The two teens had decided to remain friends in the end. They didn't have enough in common other than they were both gay. They still texted and talked and they were actually close buddies. Yes, Xander did have his first kiss with Elijah but nothing more, nothing less. Xander had to come out to many people when he became a 'thing' with Elijah but surprisingly enough, so far, everyone had been okay with it. He had admitted he was gay to his mother, father, and younger brother but there were two more people he needed to talk to before he told anyone else.

"Grandma, Grandpa, I'm back from school!" He yelled into the quiet house. He toed his shoes off in the front hall and made his way through the living room into the newly renovated kitchen. He waited to hear some noise or rustling and made himself at home, digging into the refrigerator. Xander's Grandparent's lived close to the school, so he was able to walk home after high school.

"Xander? Is that you, boy?" His Grandpa's old, rough voice traveled along the hallway. If Xander had to pick a different pair of parents he would pick his Grandparents. They were there for him every single day, during the hard parts and the good ones. The celebrated with him when he graduated from grade 8 and helped heal him after he was beaten up in grade 10.

"Yup Grandpa. It's me. I'm in the kitchen." Xander called out crumbs falling from his mouth. He stuffed a handful of animal crackers into his mouth and smiled innocently as his Grandma padded into the room, her face set in a frown.

"Tch... Xander, you know what I say. No food before dinner because then you won't be able to eat." His Grandmother proceeded to tell him off but then dip her own thin fingers into the plastic bag. Xander laughed lightly and grabbed a glass from the top cupboard.

"Pft! Deli! Telling the boy off, meanwhile, you are contradicting exactly what you are saying..." Xander's Grandfather lurched into the room with an unsteady gait. Xander still got nervous whenever his Grandpa got a bit unsteady but he was now used to the wave off. Deli was Grandpa's cutesie name for Grandma whose name was Delilah. They had first met at a meat deli when they were younger. Xander knew the whole story. His Grandma, Delilah, had been asked to go to the meat store in town by her mother, Great Grandma Viola. Delilah's mother was sick and hadn't been able to go into town that week so she had made up a list, with a small amount of money on the counter.

Food

A loaf of bread

Three stalks of celery

10 Sticks of carrots

2 Sticks of cucumber

A sack of potatoes

3 Cartoons of milk

1 Block of cheddar cheese

2 Cuts of chicken

1 Cut of ham

1 Cut of salami

Delilah had been nervous on her way into town. She didn't usually go by herself, her mom was almost always with her. She had put on her special, baby blue bonnet, and a white dress.

"Be safe!" Her mother had called after her as she made her way into town with a small rolling cart beside her. In town, she had picked up the vegetables before the meat and was intimidated by the dark lighting in the meat store. Plucking up her courage she had stepped inside, hit with the smell of different types of meat, she flinched.
