"Spongebob?!" Squidward exclaimed, as surprised as Spongebob was. "I should've known." He muttered the latter quietly to himself.

"What are you doing here?"

"Im-"

"OH MY GOSH, I AM SO SORRY!" suddenly, Mrs Squarepants appeared from behind Spongebob. "It's Squidward, right? The Tentacles's son?"

Squirdward meerly nodded, obviously uncomfortable.

"Mom...whats going on...?" Spongebob whispered.

"Sorry sweetie, remember how yesterday I mentioned one of our neighbours had a son your age? Well, I forgot to mention that he goes to your school and his parents suggested that you walk together to and from school." Mrs Tentacles whispered back.

"What? But I don't even know him!"

"Spongebob! His mother is a very kind woman so I should expect her son is too. Also he's quite a handsome one isn't he? Though that nose is far too big. Oh and that hair, just no."

"Mom!" Spongebob whispered harshly, feeling heat rise up to his face.

"Look i just want you to make friends-"

"I'm still here, you know?" Squirdward said, which startled both Spongebob and his mom for some reason. "And not only is my nose big, so are my ears."

Mrs Squarepants turned as red as a beet. Atleast now Squirdward knew where Spongebob's tendecy to blush easily came from.

"Oh my, look at the time! You guys should leave." Mrs Squarepants handed Spongebob his bag and practically shoved him out the house.

"Have a great day" she said at the same time the door slammed in their faces.

"Look, I-" Spongebob turned around to apologise to Squirdward and found that the boy wasn't there. He ran to the front of his house and saw Squidward walking not far away. He ran and within seconds, Spongebob caught up with Squidward.

"Hey, wait up!" He panted once he arrived next to him. "We're supposed to be walking together aren't we?"

His question was met with silence.

"Look, I'm sorry for what my mom said, you know, about the nose thing. She always says what's on her mind." He apologised, and yet Squidward didn't even react in the slightest bit and kept walking in the same stride. "I-it's not even true- your nose is uh,- it really suits you..?" Spongebob attempted to get Squidward to talk.

"My nose isn't that great eith-"

"Just shut the fuck up already." Squidward stopped suddenly, turning towards Spongebob. "I don't give a damn what your mommy thinks about me. My parents forced me to walk with you, not be your pathetic friend. Now either hurry your ass up or we'll really be late."

Great, Spongebob thought. He's only known Squidward for two days and he already hates him.

When Spongebob first laid eyes on Squidward, he had thought that he was really good-looking, with his scruffy blue hair and gorgeous brown eyes that reflected the sunlight coming in from the window. Call it cliche, but it was like love at first sight. He had tried to make friends with him, but it seemed like Squidward had hated Spongebob's guts right from the start.

"We're here." Squidward said suddenly, snapping Spongebob out of his thoughts.

"Thank you," spongebob started, as Squidward turned on his heel and disappeared into the school, leaving Spongebob alone at the school gates.

"Wait, what about walking home?!" Spongebob tried to yell out after him, but Squidward had vanished. Spongebob felt slightly sad and disappointed at the same time. All he wanted was to make friends with Squidward.

"Excuse me, are you new here? I only ask because I practically know everyone here and I'd definitely remember a face like yours." A voice from behind him said. Spongebob turned around and was face to face with a pink haired boy smiling at him.

"Uh, yeah, actually. I just transferred yesterday." The pink haired boy's smile widened, and he linked his hand through Spongebob's as he said
"Well child, my name's Patrick Star and allow me to show you all around the school."
