008. Next Time

Three Days Later

"What now?" Carmen asked Steve as they were talking in an alleyway

Everything was over, Cap's team was in jail, Tony had 'won' in the public eye, everything was basically at peace in society, but not for Carmen

"This may be the last time we see each other in a while" Steve told his goddaughter

"I know, where's Bucky?" Carmen asked him

"He's made the decision to freeze himself, he figured that way he'll be safe and keep others around him safe" Steve told her as she bit her lip and nodded

"Wow, okay" Carmen responded, not knowing what else to say

"I'm gonna get in so much trouble for this" Carmen muttered as Steve looked at her confused

She reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a pink post it note

"Here, it's the passcode to open all the cells" She told him as he took it

He look down at her and smiled

"I love you, kid" He told her and pulled her in for a tight hug

"I love you too" Carmen whispered, tears falling from her eyes

Carmen sat on the floor of the new Avengers HQ, it was completely empty as Happy would be moving all their things into the place in a couple months

She felt someone sit beside her as she turned to be greeted by Peter in his Spider-Man suit with his mask off

He had curly and messy hair which Carmen was somewhat attracted to

"Are you okay?" Peter asked her as she nodded and looked at him

"Oh my god, Peter. Your eye" Carmen gasped as she ran her fingers along his black eye softly

"Yeah, it's okay though, I'm okay" Peter reassured her as she sighed

"You have to go soon?" Carmen asked sadly as he nodded

"Yeah, I begged Happy for five more minutes" Peter said as Carmen laughed

"Thanks for coming to help with all this. You're not being unrecognized" Carmen told him

"I have enough recognition, I'm talking to you aren't I?" He asked and smiled

"You're such a charmer, Parker" Carmen told him and smirked

"Oh, T-Thanks, Did you know I have a Lego Ninjago full set including the characters?" Peter asked excitedly as Carmen stared at him

"And you've ruined the moment" Carmen sighed and stood up

"Wait, can I try again?" Peter stumbled to stand as she giggled

"Try again next time" She told him and placed a hand on his shoulder

"There will be a next time, right?" Peter asked as he grabbed her hand and she smiled

"Play your cards right and there just might be"
