So, in all honesty, I'm not into NITW that much anymore, but it has a special place in my heart, along with my other past fandoms. I'll still continue this book because of the interesting mysteries left. This is just gonna be a short theory. Comment on what you guys think.

Well, if you kick the person hard enough, the cult helmet will come off and it would be revealed that the attacker was a cat.

                          
The outline showed a cat with a chipped ear. A lot of people speculate that it's Aunt Mall Cop, otherwise known as Aunt Molly. But Molly doesn't have a chipped ear, unless she got it moments before the mine scene. 
After the night the mine crumbled down, Molly was never seen in the following scenes.
