MORE HARRY POTTER AUs!!!

Today was finally the day. A nice clear day when the teachers didn't bombard the students with homework, even Professor Snape. You and your friend Yuuri sat in the courtyard practicing spells for Defence Against the Dark Arts. Yuuri had always struggled in Defence Against the Dark Arts and needed all the help he could get. You on the other hand, excelled in it and it was evident as you were now casting a corporal patronus, magic that was beyond the talents of the average O.W.L student.

"How are you doing that?" asked Yuuri as he watched your silvery animal dissipate into thin air.

"The patronus?" you said, "It's not that hard, I'll teach you!"

Yuuri gave you a weak smile and looked down before replying, " I know the theory of casting a patronus, I just can't seem to find the perfect memory."

"What do you mean?" you asked as you sat next to him.

"For a patronus, you need a strong happy memory," said Yuuri. You nodded at him but you didn't know where Yuuri was going with this. Could it be possible he didn't have any strong happy memories? He was depressed for a while and once held a pessimistic outlook on life, but you were sure that he would have happy memories.

"I just can't seem to find a happy memory," said Yuri sadly, "A lot of my strongest happy memories lead to my saddest memories. Memories with Vic-chan, skating, or my friends and family back home all lead to me feeling sad and homesick."

You felt you heart clench. Poor Yuuri. In that moment, you made a silent promise to protect Yuri at all costs.

"Yuuri," you choked out as tears welled up in your eyes, "I had no idea..."

"I know it's pathetic," muttered Yuri as his tears began to well up, "As a kid I was overweight and didn't have many friends so I would skate alone."

You stared at him with wide eyes.

"No wonder I've become such a depressing person," he laughed bitterly. It couldn't have been plainer that he didn't find any of this remotely funny.

Yuuri continued gaze at the spot where your patronus had disappeared with a distant look in his eyes. His eyes looked glassy, as if he were about to cry and his shoulders were hunched in defeat.

You sighed deeply and said, "There's this dumb saying I read on Tumblr-"

"What's Tumble?" asked Yuuri. You waved your hand dismissively.

"Some muggle blogging site," you continued nonchalantly, "Anyways, I read this quote that said, 'Don't be sad because it's over, be happy that it happened' and I think you can apply that dumb quote to your happy memories."

Yuuri looked thunderstruck. He looked at you as though you had sprouted another head. "I didn't know you were muggleborn," he said with amazement.

"That besides the point," you said with a tone of indifference, "The point is, your happy memories shouldn't be tarnished simply because they are over. You should be thrilled for experiencing them!"

At this point Yuuri looked very uncomfortable. He flipped through his copy of 'Defence Against the Darkest Arts' and said, "I actually just wanted help with protective enchantments."

"Yeah, I decided that those are dumb and that we should learn this cool thing instead," you said indignantly.

Yuuri sighed in defeat and pulled out his wand. He gave his wand a wave and muttered, "Expecto Patronum."

Feeble silver wisps cascaded from the tip of his wand and faded away just as quickly as they had come. You couldn't help but frown at his weak patronus.

"What memory are you using?" you asked quizzically.

"The first time Viktor noticed me," Yuuri admitted as his face flushed a deep red. It physically pained you to hold back from saying, "when senpai notices you."

"That's not strong enough," you said, shaking your head, "not nearly strong enough."

Yuuri looked abashed and ashamed. You felt your posture slacken from looking at his defeated form. You sighed and gently held his hand in yours.

"What we need," you started, "are some cheering charms!"

Before Yuuri could protest, you cast a simple but effective cheering charm which made his face light up with glee and for melodic laughter to spill from his lips.

"Feeling better?" you asked with a soft smile.

"Never better," replied Yuuri with confidence. He pulled out his wand and turned to you, "Would you care you duel?"

Yuuri bowed mockingly, as though he had just asked you to dance. You couldn't help but giggle at the randomness of his request but you couldn't bring yourself to say no. You nodded your head yes and loosened your blue and bronze tie and rolled up your sleeves. Yuuri did the same with his uniform.

Soon the two of you should several metres apart, both with your wands raised.

"Avis Oppugno!" you flourished your wand, creating a flock of birds which charged towards Yuuri. With a brandish of his wand, Yuuri managed to get rid of the birds with ease. Sending you a boyish smirk he said, "Cantis!"

The spell struck you before you could put up a shelf charm causing you to burst into song.

"Can you hear my heart beat," you laughed out. Both you and Yuuri were laughing uncontrollably as the two of you continued to blast singing charms and tickle charms in each others direction. Yuuri was a surprisingly good dueller and was able to stand his ground against you. Then again, in your giggly state, it was a miracle that you were able to use any spells at all.

After both of you had been hit by several more cheering charms and tickle spells, you and Yuuri lay on the grass by your bags laughing uncontrollably.

Once your laughing had ceased you ask him, "Do you believe in soulmates?"

Yuuri hesitated before answering, "I've never really thought about it, do you?"

"Of course I do," you grinned, "The world is so full of magic! After growing up with muggles and discovering that magic is real, it's not that hard to believe in soulmates."

Yuuri looked at you quizzically and asked, "How will you know you've found your soul mate?"

"I guess with their patronus. I've read that when a person's in love their patronus matches their lover's," you explained as Yuuri pulled out his wand.

Before you could ask what he was doing he waved his wand and said, "Expecto Patronum!"

Silvery smoke shot out of his wand and rapidly formed an animal. Both you and Yuuri looked at it in shock. You quickly waved your wand and cast the patronus charm. Your patronus stood next to Yuuri's and nuzzled it's face against his. You had the same patronus.

"Looks like I'm your soul mate," said Yuuri with a shy smile.

"Wait, how, when did you-" you sputtered in shock, "What memory did you use?"

"Memories of being with you," he muttered with a blush.

"I'm glad," you smiled as you leaned towards Yuuri, "that out of everyone here, you turned out to be my soul mate."

"Me too," whispered Yuuri as he closed the gap between you. You smiled into the kiss as he wrapped his arms around you protectively.

~~~
"I'M GOING TO HEX THEM INTO OBLIVION!" screeched Viktor with flames in his eyes.
"VIKTOR NO!" roared Professor Feltsman as he held Viktor back.
