She couldn't tell him that she loved him
She couldn't
Not anymore
She saw the way he talked about other things
His priorities
And the things he didn't care about
The things he wanted to forget
And leave behind
She couldn't tell him she loved him
That the thought of his laugh had her smiling for a whole week
She couldn't
She couldn't say what she felt
If he didn't feel that way towards her
It would tear him apart
To think
That
Maybe he was breaking her
By trying to leave her behind and move on
But he didn't break her
She broke herself
She tore herself apart
By falling for someone like him
And she knew
Right from the start
That she'd be the one
with a broken heart
