Prologue...
His blue-green eyes twinkled under the moonlight as his mouth pulled up into a laugh.
"Come on Scarlett, let's go!" he said enthusiastically, grabbing my hand and entwining our fingers together.
I held back. Was I ready to change? Was it time for me to be different, to finally be the real me? To step out of the protective shell that has been hiding me all these years?
"Scarls? You coming?" he prompted, tugging at my hand.
I took in this childish, hilarious boy in toms, stripes and suspenders. I straightened my back, lifted my chin and smiled bravely at him.
"Ready." I whispered.
And I let him lead me, the new me, towards the new adventures that had been forbidden to me all these years, as the music swelled to a crescendo behind us...
