Bittersweet Confessions

Takashi P.O.V

It was the lunch break.Since the cafeteria is way too crowded many students were having their lunch outside.I was sitting alone since I wasn't able to find Hayami.I kept on picking my food.I just didn't have an appetite.

"What's wrong?" 

I looked up to see Narumi."Nothing much, I am just not hungry" I said.She sat next to me."Where are the rest of you guys?" I asked."Hayami and the rest are sitting somewhere else.I thought that you might be lonely so I came to give you company." she said.

"Thanks"

My mind was still full of my encounter with Kagura in the morning.I glanced at Narumi who was eating her lunch quietly."You didn't need to sit next to me.I was fine" I told her.

She stopped eating and looked at me with a hurt expression."Why?Am I bothering you?" She asked.I shook my head frantically and tried to assure her that I didn't mean it in that way.

"It's just, I do not want to be a bother.I mean don't you usually sit with Haya and Akira-Chan" I asked.

She smiled sadly."We are friends but we aren't as close as we used to be.Ever since that fight...it's like there is a huge gap between us" she said.I could understand what she meant.Ever since they reunited the first day of school, I can't help but notice how awkward they are whenever they are together.

"It's as if something is missing" Narumi continued.She seemed to know the answer but was hesitant to mention it.It didn't take me long to get what she was talking about.

Kagura.The girl who brought everyone together and acted like the glue which stuck them together.What good is sticking objects together with a glue? If only Kagura were here everything will be different.

"Naru, I talked with Kagura in the morning today,"I confessed.

Narumi looked at me with wide eyes."I know you all miss her and she misses you guys too.So.."I started explaining.Hayami is not happy as she used to be.If Kagura comes back then Hayami will also be happy.But that means I and my parents have to give Hayami back to Kagura.So that they can be a family.

Hayami P.O.V

After school, I went to the cafe Tatsuya told me to.I felt nervous but I (try to) act cool about it.Almost too cool.A felt a tap on my shoulder.When I turned, I saw Tatsuya and for the first time, Miyuki wasn't by his side.

"Where is Miyuki?" I inquired.

"She went home.She had some business to attend to" he said with his usual stoic expression.I nodded.He then led me inside the cafe.We sat down and gave our orders."So, why did you want to see me?Is there anything you want to discuss in particular?" I asked.

"Yes, I just want to know about your match," He said.I looked down at my lap."I see..." I muttered."Are you okay?" he asked.The concern was evident in his tone.

I don't know, was I?Kagura....

"Hayami" Tatsuya called.I quickly looked up and gave him a bright smile."Of course, I am alright.Why wouldn't I be? I am just a bit nervous about the match.I mean, Kagura-Senpai is very strong." I blabbered.

Tatsuya raised an eyebrow as if he was skeptical."Really? However, when you first received the message you reacted in a way that it was something personal" He said.

I gulped.I felt I was being interrogated and it was making me very uncomfortable."Can we please stop"I asked.

He scanned my face with his emotionless eyes."I just want to help-" I cut him off.

"And what help can you do?" I snapped a bit loudly.

"I was just a bit worried," He said calmly.

  "Why do you even care this much?" I asked him looking directly into his eyes.

"I am not capable of deciphering my emotions well because of an incident in my childhood-what I won't tell you- but I can easily tell I care a lot about you.I want you to be happy and safe.I know it hasn't been much time since we met but I think I like you, Hayami" he said.

I was speechless.As soon as I regained my composure I spoke again."But you don't know much about you nor do I about you."

"I know.That's why I want to get to know each other.From now on I want to be completely honest with you.So please, I would like your consent to go out with you."He said as he bowed slightly.

Normal P.O.V

"The selection match, being a real battle, is potentially life-threatening.If you acknowledge this and are determined to participate, please push the "agree" button." the robotic voice echoed throughout the hall.Hayami stared at the button for a while, thinking it through before pressing it.

'There is no escaping now, Hayami.' She thought.

Meanwhile, her opponent had also pressed the button to agree to participate in the match.The girl smirked.'It's about time'

In the arena, Hayami's friends were settling down in their seats.Tatsuya and his gang were there too since the students from the First High School can watch the match too.The arena was filled with anxious spectators who were eagerly awaiting the start of the match

Tatsuya was clenching his fists very tightly making his knuckles appear white.It was unmistakable, the Shiba Tatsuya was worried for a someone other than his sister.

Akira: Finally, the much-awaited match has begun

Narumi: I hope Hayami will be okay

Akira: More importantly, what was Hayami's response to Tatsuya's confession

Narumi: Don't know but it will hopefully be revealed in the next chapter.Right, Author-chan?

Author-Chan: No comment

Akira: *pouts* no fair, you are so evil

Author-chan: *smirks evilly* that I am
