The End of NSC

The abrupt sound of the door opening startled Hayami. She had to wait for only a brief second before she was enveloped in a hug. She winced slightly. It was Tatsuya, she knew the comforting feeling of his arms all too well but this time she felt a hint of possessiveness.

His hand held her head firmly, preventing her to look up. "Ta-Tastuya," It was a long time since she spoke. Her voice broke. "Who did this?" there was a sharp edge to his voice. Hayami placed her unbroken left hand on his protective arms.

"Just as we suspected, the No-Head Dragons," Sanada said. The man stood guard for Hayami, knowing how special she was to Tatsuya."Yanagi-san brought her here, even groped her chest."

Tatsuya's eyes narrowed at that. "It was an accident," Hayami said. Sanada smiled at the two."Well, I'm leaving,". When the door closed, Tatsuya let go. His hands gripped Hayami's left one tightly. 

"Tatsu-" He placed his finger on her lips.

"Shhh..." He brought his lips close to her ear, "Nothing you say will spare them."

Tatsuya placed lingering sweet kisses all over her face. Before he kissed her lips, he looked into her eyes. Hayami felt a lump form in her throat. They were true about eyes being the window of your soul. Despite his usual emotionless demeanor, those blue eyes which were deep as the sea contained sorrow with just as much depth.

He finally pressed his lips to her own. The numb feeling in her mind was replaced with pain. She didn't know why but she felt sad.

Tatsuya disappeared off later. God knows where. Hayami was then visited by the person she least expected: Akagi Hime, the student council president. Hayami winced at her cold gaze. 

"You're a representative chosen by Hagun Academy to represent us in the upcoming Seven Star Swordsmanship Tournament. That was why you were given additional shifts for patrol. Now, no thanks to your weak self, the school board doubts me. I'm warning you, Ayase. Don't bring me down like that again."

Hayami winced at her cold hash words. Honestly, Kagura can't even hold a candle to this ice princess. Afte some time she was visited by Takashi and Narumi. Hayami chuckled at how awkward they were.

"Did you get a scolding from Akagi-senpai, as well?" Hayami asked.

"Yeah, it's fine though. It's not our fault that we aren't strong enough to meet her standards. I mean how high are they?" Takashi sighed.

"How's Aki taking this?" Hayami asked.

"To be honest she's freaking out. She's going about raving on how 'this is war' and stuff" Narumi said.

"What got her to stop?" Hayami asked.

A grin formed on Takashi's and Narumi's face. "Kazuki woke up..."

"Yo! Haya!" Erika lightly slapped Hayami's back."Look at you disobeying orders."

"I'm not disobeying orders! Baka!" Hayami sighed irritatedly."They discharged me early"

There was a party planned at the last minute to celebrate the Fist High's overall victory of the NSC. Hayami was discharged early with the back up of Takashi. However, it seemed that only she, Narumi and Kagura were present.

Takashi got up with some paperwork (Hayami was sure that was Akagi's punishment for letting her discharge so soon). Akira was by Kazuki's side who called Akira's name when he was fully conscious.

"The NSC will end tomorrow, huh?" Erika said wistfully.

"I think Team Jumonji is a lock for the win tomorrow in Monolith Code," Shizuku said.

"Huh...Really?" Narumi wondered.

"He's a member of the Ten Master Clans and possesses a lot of power. One cannot doubt his ability." Kagura said.

"But that's what people said about Ichijou Masaki." Hayami teased. Miyuki chuckled and nodded in agreement.

"Speaking of which where is Tatsuya-san?" asked Honoka.

"He's already gone to bed," Miyuki said with a smile."He said he was tired out."

Hayami looked away. Did Miyuki know where he really was? If so, why did she let him? He could get hurt worse killed. The people he's after are a dangerous bunch. From what Sanada had told her, they collected magician's cerebrums to build magic-amplifiers. They would kill for money.

Hayami searched for Tatsuya the next day but couldn't even find a trace of him. Miyuki told her not to worry but she wanted to see him so bad. Finally, she got a text from him inviting her to watch the final with him. A date.

She couldn't stop the fluttery feeling in her stomach. With a stupid grin of a girl hopelessly n love, she hummed a song and cheered up. Tatsuya looked fine. In fact, he acted as if he totally didn't sneak out last night to kick some baddie's asses.

That's Tatsuya for you.

As expected the victory went to First High. The award giving ceremony was next. Hayami stood by Tatsuya's side who wrapped his arm around her waist protectively. She knew that he would be like this for a while.

There was an after party. Which included not just a bunch of Magician schools but Blazer schools as well. Kazuki was allowed to retain his representative status and was permitted to attend the party. There was a huge improvement in Akira's mood.

It was as if everything was back to normal. Hayami allowed herself to relax and enjoy. She spent the rest of the night talking with her friends, arguing with Takashi and dancing with Tatsuya.
