They all met up with me outside of the hospital, and we all went to visit Alfred. He was in an even worse condition, with his bleeding having been nearly fatal to him. I remember that [Elizabeta Héderváry] had come with Roderich [Edelstein], and she was holding one of Alfred's hands the whole time. She was speaking comforting words toward [Alfred], hoping that he could hear every one of her words.

I don't think he heard a single noise. - Arthur Kirkland

I watched [Elizabeta] run her left hand through Alfred's hair and put her right hand on top of [Alfred's] left [hand]. She was saying comforting words while holding his hand and running her hand through his silken, golden blond hair.

It made me cry. - Roderich Edelstein
