Evie meets Lish

Raquel took my hand in her warm one and walked slowly, with me trailing by her side. "There's some one I'd like you to meet" She smiled warmly down at me and I grinned back cheerfully. I never really knew what a mum was like, seeing as I was raised in an orphanage. But even so...I'm pretty sure Raquel felt like one. 

We walked down a few of the pristine white corridors, me not being bothered to pay attention to where we were. We finally came to a door that slid open to reveal a large, circular room. 

There were desk all around the edges of the room and in the middle....In the middle was a huge aquarium filled with bright coloured coral and rocks. And in the water, was one of the most beautiful creatures I had ever seen. 

"Mermaid!" I cried, dropping Raquels hand to run to the tank and smash my face agains it. The mermaid's attention turned to me, her mouth not moving but her eyes full of a cheerful expression. 

"Hello there" a monotoned voice came. "You must be Evie" I nodded. "Yep!" Raquel came behind me. "Hello Alisha, how's the water this morning?" Alisha's eyes wondered over to Raquel. "It's wonderful always" The voice said,

 "Evie, I'd like you to meet Alisha, she will help you out here at the centre" Raquel said. "Hi Alisha! Can I just call you Lish for short" I asked excitedly, "Of course, Lish it is" Lish replied. I smiled. Wow, I guess this place really is my new home.
