The next day, Nagisa got up at a reasonable time. He got ready and left for school, which he was still dreading. At least, until he remembered he would be allowed to skip. He didn't doubt he could hit his teacher with a ruler. He had pulled off harder things before. He was, after all, an assassin.
But he would never tell anyone he was close to. Not even anyone from E-Class knew, unless Karasuma counted. He killed people. He didn't even need to seeing as he had a job as a teacher. He did it because he enjoyed it. Why would he tell anyone that he was a murderer?
Sure, Karma beat people up, but they always lived and always deserved it. Kayano did inject herself with tentacles and almost die just to attempt to kill Koro Sensei, but she was grieving and wanted revenge. They both had reasons. Nagisa did it for the thrill. The excitement. The rush of adrenaline.
It was addicting.
Before he knew it, He was in front of the school building. He sighed. He would rather be the teacher, not the student. But he didn't really have a choice.
He entered the class and 2 of the students were sitting at their desks. The one missing was the one who had attempted to hit the teacher the day before. He sat at his desk. He couldn't stop thinking about the first attempt he had at assassinating Koro sensei. He bet that if Koro Sensei wasn't So fast, it would've worked. So that's what he decided to try, minus the grenade.
He brought his paper up with his ruler hiding behind it. His face displayed a bored look, the kind any other kid would have in school, without a hint of bloodlust. "Done already, Nagisa?" Asano asked, a warm smile on his face. In reality, Nagisa was done. He flew right through it.
He could hear his heart pumping blood through veins. It was a sound he was familiar with. In fact, it was welcomed. It reminded him that he was still alive.
Nagisa pulled out his ruler and, without the slightest hesitation, slashed at him with it. He moved his hand perfectly, as if the method of using a knife was engraved into his brain.
Bloodlust seeped through every part of him. Times like these were when he really felt alive! Asano just barely dodged and stumbled back in surprise. He slashed at him once more, causing him to stumble backwards to the ground.
He was smiling the whole time, but it wasn't a normal smile. It seemed as though his bloodlust seaped through his teeth. His eyes glinted dangerously.
He "stabbed" principal Asano right through the heart. If this had been a real assassination, he would be dead. Nagisa let out a breathe as the bloodlust slowly evaporated into the atmosphere.
Everyone was silent. Nagisa smiled and offered Principal Asano his hand. Asano cautiously took it and Nagisa helped him up, still smiling a now normal smile.
"I guess you got me!" He laughed. He acted like he wasn't phased even though he was terrified of Nagisa. He disguised his bloodlust perfectly, wielded a ruler as if it were a knife, and had actually managed to hit him despite his amazing reflexes.
But the most unsettling part was that he actually responded to it like his life was on the line. He felt like he would have been murdered if he managed to hit him. No, not murdered. Assassinated.
The students still looked shocked. Not just shocked, fearful. "Well this means you can go!" Asano gestured to the door. "We did have a deal, after all."
Nagisa nodded. He beamed with pride! It didn't seem like something most people would be proud of but he was different. He kept thinking of how proud Koro sensei would be of him. He felt suddenly depressed as he walked out the door.
Koro Sensei would be proud, if he wasn't dead, that is. His life was ended by Nagisa. Nagisa killed him. Nagisa *killed* him.
He looked down at his now shaking hands and watched as a few tears dropped onto them. The warm, salty fluid he was all too familiar with ran down his cheeks. He was well aquainted with his tears. They came often. Much too often for his liking.
He wiped his tears quickly and sniffled. He took a few deep breaths and prepared to go find his friends, curious as to how they were doing. He disappeared into the thicket of trees to search for them.
After what felt like hours, though it was probably just minutes, Nagisa finally found Kayano. "Hey!" He greeted cheerfully, hoping his face wasn't red from crying earlier.
"Nagisa?" She smiled, confused. "You didn't seem like the type to skip." She teased.
"I got permission!" He said, making sure he didn't ruin his good image. Well... His image wasn't completely good. He had the capability to kill someone with ease. That's not something most people find as a redeeming quality.
"Oh really?" Kayano smirked.
"Yes." Nagisa said, a-matter-of-fact-ly. "Principal Asano had a deal with his students that if they could Kayano sat down on the ground and Nagisa joined her.
"It's not like I'm missing anything. I already learned this and am teaching it." He smiled.
Kayano tilted be head back and looked at the sky as she sat down against a tree. "I guess that's right up your alley!" She smiled in reminiscence. "You were the best assassin out of all of us! You always knew what to do..."
That last part confused Nagisa. But he looked back on a lot of the situations he was in and he really was a quick thinker. Like both times with Takaoka. He knew what to do without any time to think about it.
"I'm pretty sure you were Koro Sensei's favorite." Kayano told him reminicently as he sat against a tree across from her.
"I don't think Koro Sensei had favorites." Nagisa said, his brows furrowing in thought. "It probably goes against his 'teacher code' or something." Nagisa couldn't think of any reason that he would be any teachers favorite.
"If that's what you wanna believe." Kayano shrugged. Nagisa pulled his knees to his chest and wrapped his arms around them, unable to collect his jumble of thoughts.
"You ok?" Kayano looked at him with concern written on her face. "You seem kinda... Spacey."
"I'm fine." He looked up, avoiding eye contact.
"If you say so..." she looked back up and sighed. She smiled. Nagisa looked at her. She looked so carefree despite their current situation. She wondered how she did it.
"So..." he searched desperately for something to say. "Where's Karma?"
"I'm not sure..." she shrugged."What did you do yesterday while I was at school?" He asked, hoping this would be more of a conversation starter.
"Not much..." She said. So much for conversation... Well he did have one more idea.
"I really love these woods..." he said looking around.
"So do I!" She nodded. He had to keep the conversation going.
"It brings back so many different memories from middle school."
She looked at him and tilted her head, smiling slightly. "Name a few."
"Well..." he thought for a second. "Like when we had that huge class battle! Or when we all went swimming and Koro sensei was being way too strict about what we could and couldn't do."
Kayano laughed. "Yeah..." she sighed and smiled.
"We should go find Karma." Nagisa stood up. "C'mon!" he held out his hand. She took it and he helped her up.
