Chapter 14

KENDALLS POV

Tears stream down my face as I stare at Paige at this stupid party.

Tyler engulfs me in his arms and leads me out the door. "Don't talk to me Paige. Ever." He says looking back as we walk towards the car.

I want to thank him for standing up for me, but I didn't need that. I'm strong enough to stand up to any Paige Hyland. "Tyler can I talk to you." I stop in my tracks on the way to the car. He nods and we walk farther away. "We will wait for you guys." Chase calls as him and Maddie get in the car.

Once we were far enough away, I started...

"Tyler you didn't have to do that." I shoved my hands in my pockets.

He sighs, "Yes I did. I'm not going to let some lowly cheerleader talk to you like that. You don't deserve any of the words that came out of her mouth."

I looked away, facing the trees that surrounded the front yard of this house. There was silence for a while. "I'm strong enough to handle her." I cried.

"I know that," Tyler grabs my hands, eyes locked with mine.

"You are so incredibly strong it's unbelievable. I just wanted to help." He looks at me dead in the eyes.

If this were a fairytale, he would kiss me right now. Although, this thought crossed my mind earlier today at the end of the homecoming game when he got me a sign. But this time... it was different. Pitch black out, tears streaming down my face. Fairytale moment right here and all I want is for my prince to kiss me. 

"I...I... thank you." I stutter still with my eyes locked with his.

He looks at me and I look at him. And without hesitation, he quickly presses his lips on mine.

Over 5 years and all I have wanted was this. To be kissing Tyler Renolds. Over 5 years of waiting and the moment that has existed in my dreams is coming true.

His hands move from being intertwined in mine, to one on my waist pulling me in and the other intertwined in my hair.

His kiss is loving and romantic, not forceful. I love that.

But realizing we are still in a parking lot, I pull away. He looks at me and chuckles, "We should probably continue this somewhere more," he pauses, "private." He grins.

I giggle, "It's going to take more than that for me to agree." I sigh sarcastically.

"There you go playing hard to get again." He smiles.

I giggle and pause before responding, "It's a fun game to play."

Tyler drives Chase and Maddie home, and finally comes up to my driveway. The car stops, and I don't immediately get up.

"I wish we could continue where we left off," Tyler smirked. I rolled my eyes, "That's what tomorrow night is for." I smiled as I unbuckled my seat belt. He smiles "Goodnight Ken."

"Goodnight Tyler." I smile before exiting the car and silently creeping to my room.

I replay my thoughts from that night. How could my life completely fillip around in just a matter of weeks? There was only one issue
I found in my new found love, it seems to have slipped from my mind that Tyler is indeed a total player. But I think he was only that way around Paige.

He wouldn't hurt me... he cares so much for me.
He would never.

I put my things away and tuck myself in bed. Tomorrow is the big day.

I hear my phone buzz and I tune to my nightstand to see the text is from Maddie.

M: GO TO BED!! Bags are a definite no for hoco. Just looking out for ya bff💜 ily!! And btw that kiss with you and Tyler was truely something 😏 I do have to say, mine with Chase was better tho🤷🏼‍♀️

I roll my eyes at her hilarious words.

K: alright Maddie you win lol. Ily! Gn💜

I smile and put my phone away. "Maddie is right." I talk to myself. "No bags for Hoco" I smile and turn to my side to fall asleep.
