Chapter 20

Later that day, we have to go to rehersal at the theater, on a real broadway stage.

Afterwards, Kurt, Rachel and I decide to take our own little tour of broadway.

Rachel says at first, "Brooke, Kurt and I have big broadway dreams so I don't think you need to come with us. You can go with the rest of the group."

"No, Rachel, I told her she has the talent for broadway, she should at least consider it and what better way to discover it than by coming with us on our broadway tour!" Kurt exclaims.

"Oh okay then. Brooke you are welcome to join us." Rachel says semi smiling.

We walk around and then we see it; a huge advertisement for Wicked.

We all look at each other and smile so bug I don't know how our faces can hold a smile like we have.

We run arm in arm toward the theater.

Kurt goes for the obvious entrance, the front door and its obviously locked.

"Damn. Back door!" Rachel exclaims.

We run toward the back door.

Unlocked!

We run in and see the spectacle that is a broadway theater.

We run up on the stage and take a moment to let it all sink in.

"Can you guys believe that stars like Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth have stood on this stage!" Rachel exclaims.

"You know what this calls for?" I ask.

"Defying Gravity." We all say in sync

Brooke:

Something has changed within me

Something is not the same

I'm through with playing by the rules

Of someone else's game

Rachel:

Too late for second-guessing

Too late to go back to sleep

Kurt:

It's time to trust my instincts

Close my eyes and leap!

It's time to try defying gravity

Rachel:

I think I'll try defying gravity

Brooke:

Kiss me goodbye I'm defying gravity

And you won't bring me down!

Rachel:

I'm through accepting limits

'Cause someone says they're so

Kurt:

Some things I cannot change

But 'til I try, I'll never know!

Rachel:

Too long I've been afraid of

Losing love I guess I've lost

Brooke:

Well, if that's love

It comes at much too higher cost!

Rachel:

I'd sooner buy defying gravity

Kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity

Kurt:

I think I'll try defying gravity

And you won't bring me down!

Rachel:

Kurt:

I think I'll try defying gravity

Brooke:

Bring me down!

I feel, so alive.

"Kurt, you were right, this is where I belong. I've found my dream!" I exclaim.

Rachel looks at all of us and smiles. "Now all 3 of us have the same dream!"

After our excitement wears off, we leave that theater to explore the rest of the magical dream street that is Broadway.
