Now many fans of this book (there are a lot of them, this book as 61k reads now, which I will use this chance to thank all of you for) should know that I'm an Amourshipper, so I should automatically hate this ship and go into online flame wars immediately.
But my dislike of this ship goes a little bit deeper than that for another reason. Xavier or Calem (I've heard both names) only exist in the game and don't have much of a big presence outside of there.
Hell, in the anime, even the other 4 rivals from X and Y were there (it's 4 if you count Serena as a rival if you play as a boy in the game). Calem was absolutely ignored.
This is a common problem with all of the male protagonists in Pokémon, which I could start a whole other conversation about.
But to keep things short, I don't feel Calem is big enough as a presence to be shipped with a main character as Serena, sadly.
Now, the person who suggested this specifically said to "burn it [Kalosshipping] in hatred".
And what better way to burn something than with a spicy memerino
