Chapter 53:Gender

QUANELL POV
2 weeks later....
    The party planner did a great job. Everything was perfect. I watched as the decorators put the gender color balloons in the box. The planner walked over towards me.
"You like it?" She asked. She was a chunky older white lady that looked the Mrs. Trunchbowl from Matilda but her work was amazing.
"Yes I love it. Thanks again" I said. We said our goodbyes and she left. I took a quick shower and got dressed. I was watching Kali so I had to bath and dress her too. The party started in 2hours and I still had shit to do. I had to pick up my pops/Barber/Ace from the airport and make sure everyone is here before Kelsey. She already knew about the gender party but I wanted to surprise her with how I had it decorated and shit.
     I pulled up to the airport just in time. Today would be my pops first time officially meeting Kali as her grandfather. My pops stood there with a big smile on his face.
"Yooooo" I said while getting out the car. I had the biggest smile. I was happy to see him.
"Sup man" he said while pulling me into a hug.
"I missed you man" he said while releasing the hug and patting he on the bag.
"I missed you too pops" I said. He looked at me strange when I said pops. This was my first time calling him that in person. He pulled me into another hug.
"I love you son" he said. I tightened the hug.
"I love you too" I said with a smile. We loaded his stuff in the trunk and got in my car. He turned in his seat.
"Hey Miss Kali" he said. She covered her eyes with her hands. She tryna act shy and shit. She just like her mother.
"Aye...Kali say hi" I said. She peeked out from her fingers.
"Hi" she lowly said. We laughed. I gently pulled her hands from her face.
"This your grandpa..say hi" I told her. He waved her hand.
"Baby...this my daddy" I told her. She tilted her head to the side and squinted her eyes. We both busted out laughing. This girl. She's only 3 but got the personality of a grown ass woman.
"That's your daddy" she asked pointed at me. I nodded my head. She looked at me and than at Barber/Ace/My pops.
"How he your daddy daddy?" She asked.
"It's a long story baby" I told her while pulling off.
I pulled up to the house. People was pulling up and some was already there. I greater Kelsey's sisters and her family. Kelsey was with her mom and they was on there way. I introduced everyone to my pops. My phone started ringing. That was the signal. They was here. I motioned for everyone to be quiet. I heard keys jingling and the locks on the door being unlocked. Kelsey walked in with a blind fold in as her mother guided her into the room.
"Your ready." Her mom said. Kelsey nodded her head fast.
"SURPRISE!!!" Everyone yelled.
"Oh my goshhh...wow it looks so beautiful. Oh my gosh" she said while running up to me hugging me.
"I love it. Thank you baby!" She says while kissing my lips. I laughed. She walked around looking at all the decorations.

Everything looked perfect. For the next two hours we played games. And everyone was insisting on it was a boy because of how Kels stomach was positioned. Watching Kelsey interact with her family just made me wish I had family. I love how close she was to them. Don't get me wrong they my family too and I got my pops but some days I wish I had my moms and I wish Jay was still alive. I was took out of my thoughts by Ace/Barber/pops tapping my shoulder.
"You good man. I was watching you, you look like you got a lot on your mind...wanna talk about it?" He asked while taking a seat next to me.
"Nah man I'm good. Just think, you know." I said. He nodded his head.
"Ok. Just as long as your good I'm good." He assured me. I smiled and hugged him.
"Thanks pop" I said.
"Your welcome" he said.
"Ok everyone!! It's time to find out the gender" Kelsey's mom Sharlene said. Kelsey came rushing towards me pulling me up. I picked up Kali and made our way to the box. I pulled Kelsey towards me.
"Don't forget bae..act surprised" I whispered. She kissed me nodded her head. Everyone pulled out there phones and counted down.
"Ready....set...OPEN!!" Everyone yelled. Kelsey opened the flaps of the box. I had the biggest smile on my face. She quickly looked up at me with a big smile. She rushed towards me and we hugged and kissed.

She started softly crying. I just held her in my arm with Kali in the other.
"Where having another girl...I'm so happyyy" she cried. I giggled. She looked up at me and playfully mushed my head.
"You tricked me...uhhhh" she said. I giggled.
"It was a surprise. I see you was surprised huh" I said. She just looked at me.
"You happy" I asked her.
"Of course...just as long as she's healthy I'm happy. I love you. And thank you for making this day so special for me" she said.
"I'll do anything to keep a smile on your face...I love your emotional ass" I said. We kissed.
"I love you dadddy and I love you mommyyyy" Kali said with a giggle. We laughed at her.
"We love you too baby" I told her. I held my girls in my arms. This is what I loved most. Seeing them smile everyday. This is what life was about. I was truly happy, but I just knew deep down this happiness wouldn't last forever. All good things don't last forever. And there's just a matter of time before I go back to my old ways.
