Chapter 40: visit

Cheyennes pov

We stayed overnight in the hospitle and waited to see when they would let us in to see bryce. Maya was listening to music, almost falling asleep. Koen went home and i dont know how maya was ataying to calm. I was freaking out and couldnt sit still. Finally they said something to us.

"Hey guys. You'll be able to see bryce *lastname* tomorrow around noon. Maybe you guys should go home" the lady said

"Im not leaving untill i see him" i said.

Me and Mayo stayed all night. Finally they said we could come in. We went in they said he had 4 broken ribs, broken leg and arm. Maya looked at him and didnt know what to do

"Hey guys" bryce said struggling to talk.

He had a whole bunch of bandages and wraps around him. And casts.

"Wont be in school for a while" bryce said with a chuckle.

"Are you ok!?" I asked

"Yeah. Ha, just a few broken areas" bryce said

I looked at maya and she was trying not to cry. I was trying not to cry too, but i stayed up most the night thinking bout it and crying.

"Maya?" Bryce asked

Maya looked up at him and then looked back down. Bryce looked at me and i looked back at maya.

"Maya. I know this sucks, but you have to talk." I said

"Ok. Hey look i talked" Maya said

"Talk to bryce" i said

I pulled up two stools and we sat down by bryce. Koen showed up and pulled a stool on the other side of us.

"Hey buddy." Koen said.

"Hey" bryce said after a long silence.

"Im so sorry." Koen said

"You didnt do it." Bryce said.

Maya pulled her sleves down and coverd her eyes. Bryce looked over at her and opened his hand. so i had an idea I grabbed one of Maya's arm and pulled the sleve down and put her hand in his. She looked up and me with a confused look. And i smiled at her. We talked for a while longer. Bryce still holding onto mayas hand and then it was time to go. We all said goodbye and left
