We were walking in the forest. Yup, we were actually doing it. It was cold, dark, and had an eerie silence. I heard a snapping of some sorts and I grabbed onto Draco's arm, holding on for dear life. This reminded me of the troll incident on Halloween.

"If I die, you're coming down with me, Draco."

"We aren't gonna die." He muttered, but I could hear uncertainty in his voice.

We reached a fork in the forest path and split up, much to my dismay. Fang was in the front, then there was Longbottom, and then me and Draco.

Every now and then moonlight would shine through the branches, showing silvery blood on the forest floor.

Draco stopped walking for some reason, and because I was still holding onto him, so did I. Longbottom didn't even notice as he continued waddling with Fang into the forest.

"I have an idea to scare Longbottom, but I'm gonna need your help. You in?" He asked, turning to me.

"It depends on what you're gonna do." I said, letting go of him.

"Ok, so I'm gonna go up behind him and grab him. I'm gonna need you to make some sort of animal noise. Think you can do that?"

"Bloody hell, that's brilliant! I'm in!" I said, stifling my laughter.

We creeped up on Longbottom, who wasn't really that far ahead of us.

"Ready?" Draco mouthed, right behind him.

I nodded and we worked together to scare the cowardly boy.

Draco squeeze Longbottom's middle tightly, and at the same time, I hissed loudly.

"IT'S GOT ME! AHHHH!" The idiot screamed, sending red sparks into the air. Fang started barking loudly.

"YOU GIT! WE WERE JOKING!" I yelled at him. He looked like he was on the verge of tears.

"Wait, maybe Hagrid will dismiss us from detention!" Draco said hopefully.

"I doubt it. If anything, he'll make us stay longer." I muttered, wiping the hope off his face.

Fang, realizing that there was no danger, finally shut up.

I saw something huge approaching us and I sobbed, grabbing onto Draco's arm again and burying my face in his clothes.

"I don't wanna die!" I mumbled, my voice being muffled by cloth.

"It's Hagrid." He said.

Relief washed over me and I quickly unburied myself, but still held onto Draco just in case.

"Are yeh all right? We saw the sparks."

"We're fine. Longbottom here got scared and panicked. He sent up the sparks." I said, nodding towards the idiot who sent sparks up.

"It's not my fault! They grabbed me from behind and made scary noises! They scared me on purpose!" Longbottom squealed.

"Well what yeh do that for?"

"It was a joke!" Draco said in defense.

"Yer wastin' time! Come with me ter the others." Hagrid said angrily, leading us away.

Once we reached them, I could already tell that they were terrified. Hagrid had left them all alone in the forest.

"What happened?" Granger asked, seeing that we were all fine and not injured.

Hagrid explained our joke to the rest. By the time he was finished, they were all glaring at us. "Idiots...." I heard Ron mumble.

"We'll be lucky ter catch anythin' now, with the racket you three were makin'. Right, we're changin' groups-"

If he separates me from Draco I swear-

"-Neville, you stay with me, Ron, an' Hermione. Harry, you go with Fang an' these idiots."

Rude. But thank Merlin I'm not going with Ron and Granger. Ugh, but now we gotta work with Potter!

As we walked, I spoke up.

"This is ridiculous! Walking in the forbidden forest... we could get killed!"

"There's all sorts of things out here-and we don't even have a teacher with us!" Draco said, agreeing with me.

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you two were scared." Potter teased, looking back at us.

"Scared, Potter?" Draco tried to argue, but a short, yet eerie howl cut him off. "Did you hear that?" He muttered, sounding terrified. I squeezed his arm tighter and looked at the ground, afraid of what I might see.

We walked deeper into the woods. The deeper we got, the darker and thicker the forest became, which really freaked me out. It didn't help that there was unicorn blood everywhere.

It seemed like we had been walking forever when we suddenly stopped.

"Look-" Potter said, putting an arm out in front of us. I looked up to see a clearing up ahead.

There was something white and glowing on the ground. We inched closer and saw that it was-

"-A unicorn." I muttered, looking down at it in sadness.

It had to be one of the most horrible things I've ever seen. The beautiful creature was laying on the ground, dead. It's legs were sticking out at odd angles where it fell. It's shiny white mane was spread wildly on the forest floor.

A slithering sound caught my attention. I saw a hooded figure go over to the unicorn and bend down, sinking its teeth into the creature to drink its blood.

"AAAAAAAAAAARGH!" Me and Draco screamed in unison. Draco ran, and since I was still holding onto him, I ran, too. Fang followed shortly behind.

"WHAT THE BLOODY HELL WAS THAT?!" I screamed, starting to pant from how fast we were running. Unlike my brother Ron, I was seriously unfit. It didn't help that Draco was way faster than me, and I had to run at his pace.

He didn't answer my question, and eventually I had to stop running. Luckily for me, though, we had already found Hagrid.

"Alex, are you alright? Where's Harry?" Ron asked, worried.

I nodded my head and Draco pointed back to where we came from and then, out of nowhere, Potter came over, riding a freaking centaur.

"Harry! Harry, are you alright?" Granger asked, running up to them.

"I'm fine." He answered. "The unicorn's dead, Hagrid, it's in that clearing back there."

Hagrid scurried off and the centaur turned to Potter. "This is where I leave you. You are safe now." He spoke coolly. "Good luck, Harry Potter. The planets have been read wrongly before now, even by centaurs. I hope this is one of those times." After he finished, he galloped back into the forest.

-time skip-

As we walked back up to the castle, the trio spoke in hushed whispers, totally blocking us out. Not like I cared.

Ron then walked up to me and spoke one, short sentence.

"You were right."
