Logan limped back over to the couch and took a seat. "You know, there's a restaurant that just opened up down the street. I hear they make the worlds greatest burgers. We should go there tonight for dinner." Said John. "We'll see. But, if we do go, then your paying." Said Logan. John took a seat next to Logan on the couch. He reached out and Grabbed Logan's dog tags and stared at them for awhile. "Didn't your father give you these?" Asked John. Logan turned to John and saw the tags in his hands. "Yes. My old man did get me those tags when I was young. He said they were good luck. Ha, from where I'm standing, I haven't gotten much luck at all." Said Logan. John placed the tags back down on the table. "Um, do you know where your father is, Logan?" Asked John. "He's dead. He died in 2027. He got lung cancer and after that, he got some sort of mutation disease. The doctors thought it would cure him of his cancer but all it did was make his cancer cells spread more throughout his body. Ten days later, he was announced dead." Said Logan starring at the ground. "I'm sorry to hear that, Logan."
"He was an idiot! Always thinking he was the center of the universe. Didn't even give a damn about me!"
"Your father was a good man for a short time, Logan. He just lost perspective on life."
"Hmm. That seems to run in my family."
"The sun is starting to go down. Why don't we get something to eat?" Asked John. Logan nodded his head at him. He made his way upstairs and walked into Laura's room. He saw Laura awake sitting on her bed. "Time to go." Logan said. "Go where?" Asked Laura. "We're getting dinner. We won't be gone long."
Laura got to her feet and followed Logan downstairs. She got on her tennis shoes and Logan, John, and Laura all walked out the house and began walking down the street. Laura wouldn't stop looking at the ground. She kept kicking dust into the air and she placed her hands in the pockets of her sweater. "Laura, you feeling ok? Your not usually this quiet." Said john. "It's nothing." Said Laura. John looked at Logan. "Damn. Your right, she's definitely still having bad memories of London." Whispered John to Logan. "Told you. She almost died. They were gonna cut her open and examine her body for something." Whispered Logan. "Poor kid. How long do you think it'll last?"
"Maybe months, or maybe even years. It might even last her whole life. We just gotta make sure she's ok."
"I'll do everything I can, Logan."
"Good enough for me." Logan, Laura, and john reached the new restaurant and they all walked inside. They were greeted by the waiter and placed at a table to wait for someone to take their order. They all got water for their drink. A few minutes later, another waiter came up and took their order. They all got the same thing and that was just a regular burger. "Father? When do you think the others are coming home?" Asked Laura. "I-i don't know, Laura. For all we know they could be dead." Said Logan taking another sip of his water. "We'll have to wait and see what happens, Laura."
"Maybe your right, father. We could be the only ones left." Said Laura. They all ate their food rather fast and then waited to get the bill. John payed for everyone. They all got up and went back home. "Beautiful isn't it?" Said John looking up at the full moon that lit up the night sky. "What? The moon or the light shining off your bald head?" Logan said jokingly. "Very funny, Logan." Said John sarcastically. "But still, I haven't seen the moon this beautiful in a long, long time."
"Hmm. Your right, John. I haven't seen the moon this beautiful in forever."
"This is a sign, Logan. A sign that there is still beauty in this world."
"Maybe. But there isn't much beauty left in this damn world. But yeah, maybe there is still some." Said Logan.
