Shattered Fairytale

Certain questions began stirring my mind

A series of “what ifs” and the possible kinds

Tis about Fairytales—yes, and at this kind of age

It made me think if the stories might change.

What if Cinderella never went to the ball?

What if there were no helpful mice at all?

What if her fairy godmother didn’t come?

Would her dreams and glass slipper disappear and be gone?

What if the king and queen’s fear wasn’t so deep?

Then the witch wouldn’t have put Aurora to sleep

What if the three fairies weren’t there to help?

Could the princess have woken up or even uttered a whelp?

What if Rapunzel didn’t let down her hair?

For the prince’s part then it wouldn’t have been fair

But what if her hair didn’t grow that long?

Would fate still determine where she truly belonged?

What if Snow White never ate the apple?

The dwarves would have never experienced pain at all

What if the handsome prince never came?

If the kiss didn’t happen, would it all still be the same?

What if old Maurice never left Belle?

He wouldn’t have ended up in the ugly beast’s cell

What if the girl never loved the hideous beast?

Would he still be saved by her, at least?

What if Triton never destroyed his daughter’s collection?

Ariel would have never gone to the witch and made a condition

What if this little princess didn’t save the prince?

Would they still be together, and would she still have her fins?

What if Mulan was obedient to her father?

Would she regret it in the end and chase him right after?

What if the small dragon didn’t come to help her?

Would she still have saved China and lived happily ever after?

What if Alladin had never rubbed the lamp?

What if he just continued wearing his clothes that were damp?

What if the genie didn’t make him meet with the princess?

Would Jasmine still love him, hence granting the boy success?

What if the princess never lost her golden ball?

Then she wouldn’t have met the talking frog at all

What if she didn’t kiss that slimy creature that day?

Would its appearance forever stay that way?

A shattered fairytale is what this is called

The possible outcomes if fate ever did fall

But all of these happened not because of coincidence

It was meant to be, the inevitable happens.
