(Y/N)'s POV:

"So, what do you think?! Is he gonna ask me to homecoming?!"
"I have no clue, (Y/N). But do you think she's gonna ask me to homecoming?"
Me and Kaito walk down the halls to lunch, bickering a little, as usual.
Me and Kaito are the best of friends.
A lot of people say we act like we're siblings.
We never leave each other's side, and we argue.
A lot.
Once we make it to the lunch room, I look around.
I see my all time crush, Shuuichi Saihara, sitting at a table with the usual people he's with.
I know, it's a little concerning to my friends that I have a crush on someone who "isn't popular", especially since I am kind of popular.
I see... Ugh... Her... Sitting with him.
Kaede.
I shoot her a look and then get in line for lunch.

Kaito and I make our way to our usual lunch table. There sits Maki (Kaito's obvious crush), Iruma, Ouma, Rantaro, and Sonia (an exchange student we met last week).
"Sup?"
Kaito remarks, sitting awfully close to Maki.
Maki rolls her eyes and shrugs.
I just listen to the random chatter of my friends while staring blatantly at Saihara and Kaede.
Oh...
They're talking...
They're holding hands...

Wow.
Well, that happened...
I mean, I assume he asked her, I couldn't really hear them, though...
But...
He was actually blushing and happy.
And Kaede looked the same.
I slammed my head down on the lunch table and teared up, just a little bit.
God, I hate this...
Why can't I have Shuuichi...?
I knew I should have asked him when I had the chance...

Kaito then taps on my shoulder, telling lame ass jokes, trying to cheer me up.
I'll admit, I crack a smile while I'm hiding my face.
"(Y/N)~! Tell us what's wrong!!"
Kaito said playfully as he punched my arms lightly.
"Dude... Did you not see that? Shuuichi asked Kaede to homecoming. And... Not me..."
I explained as I wiped my teary eyes.
"Don't worry! Maki'll go with me! Isn't that right, baby~?"
Kaito said, wiggling his eyebrows at Maki.
His flirting was so painfully obvious that it actually made me want to vomit.
Maki looked disgusted and got up to throw her lunch out.
"Oops, I guess she won't..."
Kaito sheepishly said.
"No dip, dumbass."
I replied, smirking.
"Oh, lunch is over, by the way."
Kaito pointed out as he got up, waiting for me.
I "accidentally" bumped into Kaede a little bit as I passed her in the hallway.

Once I made it to history class, I took my normal seat (next to Shuuichi, of course).
I finally got the courage to tap his shoulder.
Even though I knew the answer, I asked him:
"So, uh... Do you have a date for homecoming?"
I asked meekly.
"N-No."
Shuuchi replied, shifting in his chair.
What...?
I felt like saying.
I like, literally SAW you ask kaede at lunch, dude!
But, I didn't say that.
"Oh, really? I'm surprised! Well, would you like to go with me then?"
I asked, my confidence brimming.
"A-Ah! Yes!!"
Shuuichi replied, blushing a deep red color.
"Oh, but Shuuichi, I have to ask: Didn't you ask Kaede to homecoming during lunch?"
I asked him bluntly.
"U-Uh, how'd you know? But yes, I d-did. Apparently she's going with Rantaro..."
Shuuchi told me with a shrug.
Really...?
But Rantaro's one of my friends! Why the HELL wouldn't he tell me!?
"Oh, OK then! See you next Friday! Oh, and by the way, sit with me at lunch tomorrow!"
I said to Shuuichi with a little wink.
He the folded his hands in his lap and blushed.
I quickly pulled out my phone to text Kaito.

Mission accomplished!

What do you mean?? Lol

Shuuichi.

He said yes??????

I then then turn off my phone and sigh contently.
I guess he'll be mine, afterall...!
