It took only a month for the trials to end - Jeoneo's and mine.
They ruled him guilty, of course - his lawyer didn't try. Lifetime sentence. I, on the other hand, got off with the fact of self/other - defense. Just a warning.
Hoseok was leaving Daegu soon, going back to Gwangju. We would miss him, but he'd promised to visit, and I'd told him I'd come as soon as I cleaned up here.
As a sort of unspoken, unanimous decision, we didn't talk about what had happened. We all knew, after all; what was there left to say?
Summer had arrived and left, the school year was starting again. My last year of school had arrived, and I'd already gotten enrolled for possible scholarships in multiple universities. The work I had been doing overnight when I had first met Ji resumed, it filled multiple sleepless nights while we had been waiting for the verdict.
Ji had insisted on seeing it upon completion, but I'd scrapped it halfway through. It wasn't good enough.
Restarting, it took up the two weeks until the verdict to finish. The song ended up dark and melancholy, with the touch of hope in the backgroung. Hoseok decided to add a choreo to it.
Ji moved into the empty apartment beside me. Tae was on the floor beneath us. We would attend school together for the year, but I'd soon have to start looking into dorms. I looked for a nearby college - I didn't want to leave, yet I really wanted to leave. This place carried memories that I didn't want to ever remember, but it held people I would never let go of.
Eventually, I found a good college in Seoul. Ji and Taehyung had been looking into it as well - hopefully, it would all work out.
We would work it out.
