I was sitting at a metal table in some kind of interrogation room. I waited patently for someone to enter the room. After about an hour or so Ozpin walked in and sat across from me
Ozpin: hello...y/n, it's been a long time since we last met, do you still remember me?
I nodded slightly as I avoided eye contact with him
Me: of course, it's kind of hard to forget someone like you
Ozpin chuckled softly
Ozpin: I do hope you meant that as a compliment, but aside from that I wouldn't blame you for forgetting me, it has been a long time, eleven years I believe
I nodded whilst looking down trying to fight the tears that threatened to escape, the last time that I had seen Ozpin or goodwitch was at my mothers funeral
Ozpin: I must say that I became rather worried about you and your father, it's been years since I talked to either of you, how is he by the way?
He didn't know? Did atlas just erase his existence from public records? I balled my hands up into fists, I was both furious and sad. Furious because learning that the atlas military couldn't even be bothered to give him a funeral and sad because the old wounds of my father's death had reopened
Me: ...he's dead
I said softly, all emotion gone from my voice. His eyes widened and his mouth hung open as if he were trying to find the right words
Ozpin: I'm sorry, he was a good man. How did he...?
He trailed off clearly not comfortable with finishing the sentence. I looked up at him, no longer caring about the tears that flowed freely from my eyes
Me: die? He was murdered by atlas military personnel all because that piece of shit that I killed today wanted to steal money from the military and was perfectly fine with throwing an innocent man under the bus!!!
I shouted as the tears increased, I sat there crying over the death of my father for the first time in years, it was something about Ozpin, he had something about him which made people feel comfortable, like he had gone through everything and anything that you could be going through and that he understood how you felt. After a few seconds a felt a pair of arms wrap around me and pat my back, I looked up at him with tears still in my eyes
Ozpin: there, there it's okey, I'm here for you
Me: what's going to happen to me?
Ozpin: under most circumstances you would probably be imprisoned, but I'm sure I could convince ironwood to put you in my custody so that you could enrolled into beacon
Me: b-but why?
I ask, inwardly cursing my stutter
Ozpin: because your mother was one of if not the best students that I have ever had the honour of teaching. You remind me so much of her and you deserve a better chance at life, because I believe that with the right training and guidance you could be just as skilled as a huntress as her maybe even better, so y/n l/n do you want that chance?
It didn't even take me a second before I nodded my head. He smiled down at me
Ozpin: good
Ozpin: miss goodwitch could you come in here please?
After calling for her miss goodwitch walked into the room and gave me a kind maternal smile
Ozpin: glynda could you please bring one of team RWBY'S members here and inform them that they will be getting a new member joining them
She nodded and walked out of the room coming back a few minutes later with the girl who was wearing black
Ozpin: ahh Blake, could you please escort y/n to your dorm
The girl nodded and made a gesture for me to follow her. I got up and said my goodbyes to both Ozpin and Glynda before leaving the room with her. After about a minute of walking I decided to try and make conversation
Me: so you're a Faunus too huh?
Blake: yeah but please don't tell anyone I'd rather it not become a big deal
I nodded and gave her a small smile
Me: of course anything for a fellow Faunus
She chuckled a little and thanked me. For a few minutes we walked and talked about common interests like that we both liked a lot of the same books. When we got near the dorm I could hear someone yelling
Weiss: I can't believe we have to share a room with a murderer!!!
Ruby: Weiss calm down we don't know why she did it and Ozpin wouldn't have let her stay here if he thought that she would try anything
Yang: Weiss, Ruby has a point
Weiss: uh I can't believe this, it's bull-
She was cut off as Blake opened the door and we all stared at each other awkwardly
Me: umm hello I'm y/n, I guess I'll be staying here for the time being
The one in red just ran up to me
Ruby: hello new friend!!!
The yellow one just waved at me whilst Weiss just groaned in annoyance
