Well before Wattpad I was mostly on Scratch, and I was browsing through profiles and found this one person who said that Danganronpa was her favorite anime. She was part of multiple Danganronpa studios, and one of them had a GIF of Junko from the anime. Her profile pic was Mahiru's introduction.
Since this was over summer before middle school, I was bored as heck searching for new animes to watch. I added Danganronpa to the list and watched it a few days before school started.
I found out it was a game somewhere halfway, but I had no intention to play it. When I finished Danganronpa, I liked it, but I moved on. That is, until Danganronpa 3 started airing one year ago.
I hadn't played the games, so I read a summary of what happened in SDR2. Just as before, I watched it, liked it, then moved on. The first day after Winter Break started, I found these popular Danganronpa videos on YouTube. I became obsessed after that. The first one I watched was "How I Met Your Despair", at the top.
