The next morning all the Manhattan newsies arrived at the gates. The rest of the boroughs had said they would only come if Brooklyn was coming too.
The boys wanted to wait, they were starting to second guess the decision to strike, until David spoke up
Now is the time to seize the day
Stare down the odds and seize the day
Minute by minute, that's how you win it
We will find a way
But let us seize the day
Jack called up to specs to ask about reinforments, but there were none to be seen
Courage cannot earase our fear
Courage is when we face our fear
Tell those with power, safe in their tower
We will not obey!
Jack and I joined David, trying to help him rally the boys
Behold the brave battalion that stands side by side
Too few in number, but too proud to hide
And say to the others that did not follow through
You're still our brothers, and we will fight for you
Now all the boys were rallying, ready to seize the day!
And the strike starts right dann now! Jack called
The gates open and a few boys entered the square to buy papers. The boys wanted to soak them but jack amd Davey stopped them. "We need to stand together!" Davey called.
Jack stood his ground and talked to them "All across this city there are boys and girls who should be out playing or in school, but instead they are slaving to support themselves and their folks!" He cried. This strike was about more than just a few newsies. "For the sake of every kid in every sweatshop, slaughter house, and factory accross this city I beg you, throw down your papers!"
One boy threw down his papers immediately screaming "I'm with you!"
Wrongs with be righted, if we're united
Let us seize the day we chorused
And with that the rest of the boys threw down their papers.
We all rallied together. Even when the Delanceys came out swinging we took them down. As we celebrated we say a huge flash as Katherine took our picture.
Just then, the scabbers attacked.
