London Bleu

Xavier laughed at my blush and before I knew it, we were back at the pack house. He opened my door for me and just as I was about to step out, strong muscular arms lifted me out of the car, bridal style.

"Xavier!" I squealed, turning red. "Put me down!"

"Not a chance, babygirl." I could feel his chest vibrate as he spoke with his panty-dropping voice.

With a kick of his foot, he shut the car door and walked up to the threshold. Xavier balanced my weight in one arm and opened the door with the other.

"So, what do you wanna do today?" he asked.

"Um, I-I don't-" I was cut off by Xavier's third in command bursting through the door.

"Sir, they're here," he wheezed.

Xavier scowled at him, but set me down on the kitchen counter and kissed my forehead.

"I'll see you later, baby. I've got some work to do," he said. My wolf whimpered as he withdrew.

I saw the hesitation in his eyes as he stepped away from me. I knew that he was busy so I should have let him go, but something in me just wanted to curl up on his lap and kiss him all day.

"I'm sorry London, really. I swear I'll be back as soon as I can," Xavier kissed the corner of my frown and quickly left before he would be tempted to stay.

Once his receding back was out of my sight, I slowly got off the counter and trudged out the door. I might as well see what has changed around here.

The cobblestone streets were covered with a multitude of leaves, but the trees were not yet bare. The crisp, cool fall breeze flew by me and caused goosebumps to erupt on my body. I stretched my sleeves until they covered my hands and crossed my arms, looking around the town square. I walked past a few boutiques and diners, with the occasional brand name store here or there.

Pushing open the door to an interesting looking bookshop, the scent of espresso wafted into the air. There was apparently a cafe in the back with a few seats occupied. At the register, a tall eccentric haired girl was giving the barista a never-ending order.

"1 medium, sugar-free, pumpkin spice latte with soy milk, extra foam, and a caramel swirl on top

"1 medium, sugar-free, pumpkin spice latte with soy milk, extra foam, and a caramel swirl on top. Plus one sugar cookie," she rambled.

"That'll be $4.95," the barista sighed.

As the girl searched through her purse, she only came up with $4.00, causing the barista to smirk.

"Sorry, babe. Have a nice day," he said mockingly.

Walking up to her, I handed the a**hole a dollar, which he unwillingly took and then got to work.

"Thank you so so so much. I'm Alice Ng," she said.
