"It's not." Logan spoke up. "A conversion is only to be used if one of us sees that the others aren't doing their jobs correctly, OR in Virgil's case it can be used to turn us all into the negative versions of our traits. In your vocabulary it is "ratchet". He finished his explanation, holding up one of his "cool" vocab index cards.

"And the negative versions would be, what exactly?" He asked looking to the others for answers.

Suddenly Logan pointed to Roman. "Ego." Then to himself. "Coldness." Then finally to Patton. "Passiveness." He looked so defeated.

"Mix that up and you have the recipe for one Negative Nancy aka you in a few minutes Thomas." I said, clapping my hands together, "But there's one thing that's a bit annoying about conversions. The ones being converted must admit verbally or mentally that what the converter's saying is correct."

"So, basically we just have to keep our mouths shut and our minds blank?" Thomas asked, hope starting to spark in his eyes again.

"Easier said than done. Right now negative energy is being pumped into us, not agreeing with what Virgil says will be hard, especially since he can read our minds." Logan explained, straightening his glasses. At that moment Thomas's hope was gone again.

"As much as I enjoy watching Logan crush Thomas's hopes, I really should get this going. Now who should sta-."

"Wait!" Roman cut me off, "I know you are doing this out of hatred, but I'M the one you hate the most. Spare the others and... wipe me." He rubbed his eyes, trying to hide the fact that he was about to cry.

"What does "wipe" mean exactly?" Thomas spoke up while kind of raising his hand.

"It's a COMPLETE last resort. If Virgil were to wipe one of us, then that one would disappear completely and he would make a new one that had a personality he saw fit." Logan explained bitterly.

I looked at all of them and started laughing, then went over to Roman and put my arm around his neck, yanking him closer to me. "Wow, I knew you were brave and stupid, but I didn't think you were THIS brave and stupid!" Then I lowered my voice to a whisper. "This isn't JUST about hatred. Remember what you said before? This is what you wanted right, for me to fit in." I let go of him and snickered at how scared of me he looked.

"Virgil, stop this at once." Patton said firmly, putting his hands on his hips and using his "dad voice"; something I hadn't heard in a long time. I actually felt taken aback by it.

Once I snapped back to reality, I shook my head and tried to play it cool by laughing. "Sorry "dad" that doesn't work on me." I walked back to the center.

"Virgil! You are overreacting, and frankly being incredibly childish. You have no valid reason for doing this!" Logan snapped at me.

"Since when are any of my reasons ever valid?" I asked, and started slowly turning. "Now who's first?" I pointed to each of them as I turned. "Eeny... meany... miny... moe." I smiled.
