A day later, it was Monday and at the studio, Spencer was seen sitting at the front desk with Abby, Gianna and Vivi as they were getting things ready for another week of dancing and competing. Spencer was on the laptop and he was doing some research on the competition that was coming up that weekend.
"Ok, i just found out that we'll be going to Detroit this weekend to attend Xpressions dance competition." Spencer informed.
"Thanks for informing us." Abby told him.
"Which way are we gonna go to get to Detroit?" Vivi wondered.
"We could take the I-294, which becomes the I-94 in Indiana until it becomes the I-96 in and we'll switch to the I-75 at one point, then we'll get off at Fisher Service Drive, left turn on woodward avenue until we approach the theater where Xpressions will be at." Gianna answered.
"Sounds like a good idea to me." Vivi stated.
"Also, we'll leave at 6:00 AM and we'll be there around 12:18 PM which will give the girls some time to get ready." Abby said.
"All righty." Spencer stated, then he, Gianna and Abby all headed into the Dancer's Den as Vivi went to Studio B to assist with a class, 30 minutes later, the girls and their moms all arrived at the studio ready for another week.
"All right, girls, let's do it!" Abby called as Nia, Maddie, Mackenzie, Brooke, Paige, Chloe and Kendall all walked inside of Studio A with Holly, Melissa, Kelly, Christi and Jill coming in next.
"Ok, let's recap the previous competition that we went to in Omaha, some of your moms were griping about the costumes that you wore for the group routine and that can't happen again." Spencer told the girls. "Now let's get started with pyramid."
Pyramid:
Top - Nia
Middle - Maddie, Chloe
Bottom - Kendall, Brooke, Paige, Mackenzie
"This weekend, we will be heading to Detroit to attend Xpressions dance competition and this time, we're not going to have a group dance because this is going to be solo week and what that means is that all seven of you girls will have solos." Abby said.
The girls and moms clapped.
"Spencer, let them know about the routines for this weekend."
"Ok, Nia's solo will be called Follow Me, Maddie's solo is named Happy Feelings, Chloe's solo will be called Footloose, Kendall's solo will be named In The Stone, Brooke's solo is named Groovin', Paige's solo is called New Horizons and Mackenzie's solo is entitled Life of the Party." Abby told them. "Girls, start stretching and moms, you can go."
The moms all headed upstairs like usual to watch rehearsals.
"It's the second week that Kendall and i have been here and Kendall's got her first solo as a member of the Abby Lee Dance Company!" Jill excitedly said.
"May the best dancer win." Holly told them.
"Any one of them could win." Christi stated. "But can you believe that Abby and her son had our girls wear those hideous costumes for their group routines this past weekend."
"I'll admit, that was a little inappropriate." Melissa admitted.
"Hopefully the next group routine, the costumes will be a little more decent." Kelly said. "But you never know about Abby and Spencer."
"From the stories you told me, who knows what they'll have up their sleeves next." Jill told them.
Back down in Studio A, Nia was standing in the studio with Abby, Spencer and Gianna so she could rehearse her solo, hoping to build on her victory from the previous competition.
"We know you've heard us tell you this earlier, but the name of your solo is Follow Me." Gianna told her, then she went to the laptop and played the music for Nia's solo and Nia watched Gianna and Spencer show her what moves she had to do for the routine.
"You got it?" Spencer asked, then Nia began to do the dance. "Nia, don't sickle!"
"Turn your leg out!" Abby added.
Nia applied the corrections and kept on dancing to the music and eventually, the music came to a end and she did a pose to complete the rehearsal.
"Nia, that was ok, but we can still work on it a little more." Spencer commented.
"Can you get Maddie?" Gianna asked. "Because her solo is next."
"Ok." Nia commented as she headed to the dancer's den and informed Maddie that her solo was next to be rehearsed.
"Maddie, we've told you this before, your solo is entitled Happy Feelings." Spencer said, then he headed over to the laptop and played the music and then he and Gianna demonstrated the moves that Maddie had to do, then Maddie did the moves that she watched.
"Ok, Maddie. That was good, but your solo needs turning." Abby stated, then Maddie walked from Studio A to the dancer's den as Chloe was coming in. "Chloe, like we've said before, your routine is called Footloose like the movie starring Kevin Bacon and the song by Kenny Loggins."
"I remember watching that with Spencer and Gia once." Chloe stated, then once she learned the moves, Chloe did the exact same moves and the rehearsal took 40 minutes, then she headed out to the Dancer's Den and that meant that it was Kendall's turn, her rehearsal also took 40 minutes. Brooke's rehearsal took an hour, Paige's rehearsal took 45 minutes and Mackenzie's solo rehearsal took 30 minutes and that ended rehearsals for the day and everyone went home for the night.
