Chapter 7: Final Battle

~Eve's POV~

I held on tightly to the little trashcan lid that Bunny and I were gliding on. I shut my eyes, afraid to crash into something. A cold hand cupped my cheek, making my eyes widen in surprise. Jack laughed while flying away. We glided all around, getting all of Jamie's friends. "Merry Christmas!" "Happy Easter!" "Happy Halloween!" "Don't forget to floss!" All the Guardians said as we passed boy the twins' house. "Jamie you were right" "The Easter Bunny's real!" "The Tooth Fairy" "Spirit of Halloween" "And Santa!" "They're all real!" Jamie's friends yelled in shock. We suddenly came to a stop. A monsoon of Pitch's black sand heading our way. "Whoo! Yeah!" One of Jamie's friends cheered before he saw the sand and ran behind us screaming. "You think a few children can help you? Against this?" Pitch asked, gesturing to his sand. North pointed his sword to Pitch but quickly put it down as a walking cane. I held onto him making sure he didn't fall. I heard Jamie gasp behind me. "They're just bad dreams, Jamie" Jack comforted Jamie. "We'll protect you mate" Bunny to Jamie. "Awe you'll protect them? But who will protect you?" Pitched asked us. I felt Jamie let go of my hand as he walked in front of us. "I will" Jamie said bravely towards Pitch. Suddenly Jamie's friends moved next to him. "I will" "I will" "I will" "And me" "I'll try" Jamie's friends said making my heart flutter with happiness. "Still think there's no such thing as the Boogyman?" Pitch asked as his Nightmares sand made its way towards us. "I do believe in you. I'm just not afraid of you" Jaime told Pitch. Jamie thrusts out his hand toward the Nightmare wave. His friends follow his lead, just as the Nightmare sand smashes into them. As it makes contact, the black sand...bursts into streams of golden Dreamsand? "Woah" the kids gasped astonished. Everyone is amazed, hardly believing their eyes. Streams of Dreamsand swirl around the children. And then it's pandemonium. The Nightmares buck and jump as the sand makes its way past them. The Dreamsand swirled around me, almost creating a cocoon around me, my wings flapped out, spreading out to their fullest lengths. A power sieged through me the feeling of my skin on fire making me feel back to normal. I caught my reflection in a window and saw my eyes glowed a brighter purple. "Yeah Spirit of Halloween!" the children cheered out. "NO! Get them! Do your job!" Pitch yelled at his Nightmares. The Nightmares rushed towards us. I flew into the air and started chanting. "Surge meus scaries. Profer incenderunt hostes nostros" (Rise my little scaries. Bring forth fire to strike our enemies). The ground started to shake and it opened, my little scaries coming out of the ground. "Impetus" (Attack) I commanded the scaries, them rushing towards the Nightmares, making warrior calls while they threw fire at the Nightmares, turning them back to Dreamsand. I noticed Jack confronting Pitch and went up there to help. I was just in time to hit one of the Nightmares with my scythe before it could sneak up on Jack. "Thanks Evie" Jack thanked as I followed Pitch, Pitch tries to escape the attacking us and slips into a nearby shadow, emerging through the side of the building. North jumps off the roof to greet him mid-air with his scmitars. Pitch is knocked to the ground. As he gets to his feet he forms a scythe with his Nightmare sand and begins crossing swords with North. In an instant Pitch finds himself surrounded by the us. Each of us take our turn to deal Pitch with a few humiliating blows. "It's over Pitch! There's no place to hide" Jack told Pitch as we advanced towards him. Pitch cackled and quickly descends into the shadows, casting multiple versions of himself along the alley walls. I turned around to see Pitch about to hit Jack. "Jack look out!" I called out, blasting Pitch with a fireball. Suddenly a golden whip wraps itself round Pitch's hands. We follow the whip to reveal Sandy, coalescing from the funnel cloud of Dreamsand. He gives Pitch a look, wags his finger, and then uppercuts him into the air. "Whoa! The Sandman!" The kids awed. Sandy looks off to the side to where Jamie and his friends have gathered. He forms a Dreamsand hat and tips the cap to Jamie. Jamie, gleeful, waves back to Sandy as his friends stand behind him in awe. Sandy then looks to his whip and tugs on it, slamming Pitch into the ground and knocking him out. All of us Guardians rush over to him. After North lifted him up in the air I tackled Sandy into a hug. "I missed you buddy" I told him, letting him go. "Mate you are a sight for sore eyes" Bunny said to Sandy. Sandy floats into the air, and shoots streams of Dreamsand in every direction. I felt immense surge of power go throughout my entire body. Suddenly I felt a snowball hit me in the back of the head, making me fall down in the snow. I turned around to see Jack smirking and holding up a snowball. I glared my eyes at him, taking some snow and forming a ball. I made eye contact with Jack and smirked when he got nervous. I chucked the snowball hitting him square in the face, knocking him onto his butt. Just then i felt another snowball hit me. "Oh you're all going to be in for a scare this Halloween" I teased as I ran after the kids. "You dare have fun in my presence! I am the Boogeyman! AND YOU WILL FEAR ME!" Pitch lunges at Jamie who come running toward him, Pitch's hands outstretched as if he's going to grab him by the throat. But Jamie runs right through him, laughing, joyous. "Noooo!" Pitch gasps, realizing that he no longer has any power over the children. The devastation plays across his face. Us Guardians made our way to him. Pitch turns and flees into the forest. Pitch runs through the shadows in terror. He goes crashing through the trees of the forest, and out onto the ice of the pond. He looks over his shoulder to see if we are on his tail, when BOOM! He runs smack into North's chest. Pitch slips on the ice, and falls backwards. He looks up to see North smiling down at him. "Leaving the party so soon?" North asked. "You didn't even get to say good bye father" I taunted, Tooth flying to him and tossing him a quarter. "A quarter?" Pitch asked. BAM. A fist punches him right in the jaw, and a single tooth goes skittering across the ice. Tooth shakes out her hand. "And that's for my fairies" Tooth told him. "You can't get rid of me! Not forever! There will always be fear!" Pitch yelled. "So what? As long as one child believes, we will be here to fight fear!" North told him. "Really? Then what are they doing here?" Pitch asked us. Hundreds of Nightmares emerge from the woods, surrounding the pond. "They can't be my Nightmares, I'm not afraid" North told Pitch. "Looks like it's your fear they smell" Jack says to Pitch. Suddenly, Pitch's eyes get huge with terror as the Nightmares move in on him. He begins to back away, but the Nightmares pick up speed as they charge toward him. "Ahhh, no....AAAAAHHHHHH!!" He tries to run, but it's impossible to get his footing on the ice. He falters, and is swept up in the stampede of Nightmares. The streaks of black whip and latch themselves onto Pitch as the black cloud carries him through the forest. " No, no, nooooooo!" Pitch struggles to escape, but the mass of black sand pulls him deep into the forest, under the frame of the broken bed, and back down into the dark depths of the underground. He looks up at the moon as he disappears and the hole in the earth seals itself up. Jack smiles as he looks up at the moon. He hears Tooth's laugh and turns to find North, Tooth, Bunny and Sandy, and I, our faces shining with pride. I come flying in to give Jack a hug. I tackled him, my wings entrapping his body. His hands held onto my hips making sure I didn't move. We both stare into each other's eyes before I realized what I did. I soon recoil with embarrassment as one of my scaries interjects. Jack acknowledges my little scarie and gently pats her on the side of her face as North steps forward. "Are you ready now, Jack? To make it official" Jack looks over, a stern elf is hitting a horn against his palm. A Yeti hands North the book just like before. "Then is time you take Oath" North opens the book, flips through several pages, and takes a moment before he speaks. "Will you, Jack Frost...vow to watch over the children of the world?-" Jamie and his friends along with a crowd of yetis, elves, and eggs all make their way across the pond to the rest of the group. As they approach we see Jamie in the middle of the group. "-To guard them with your life - their hopes, their laughs, their wishes, and their dreams? For they are all that we have, all that we are and all that we will ever be?" North asks, Jack looked back at Jamie who was nodding his head. Jack looked at me and I gave him a tiny nod. "I will" Jack vowed. "Then congratulations, Jack Frost - for you are now and forevermore...a Guardian" North announced. Everyone erupted in cheers. "Klasno!" North picks up Jack, gives him a hug, and kisses him on both cheeks. Jack winces, then looks up to North with a smile. "That's Santa's sleigh" The group looks up to the sky as North's sleigh comes in for a landing. The tie-dyed elf rescues a lone egg from the skis of the sleigh as it glides across the icy pond. All the kids went up to it, ooing and awing. "Everyone loves the sleigh" Bunny said to North. "Time to go" North told us. Sandy throws up his hands creating a shower of Dreamsand, which drifts down on the children. Meanwhile, Bunny hands an egg to Sophie who giggles and pats the brim of his nose. "Happy Easter ya little anklebiter. I'm gonna miss yah" Bunny told Sophie. "Bye bye Bunny" she said. She saw me and ran towards me. I caught her in my arms. "You be a good girl okay? Halloween is just around the corner" I told her. "Okay Evie" she promised while twirling her hand in my hair. I put her down and started to twirl hand motions out, a little stuffed pumpkin popping out of the smoke. "To remember me" I handed her the pumpkin and kissed the top of her head. I made my way to the sleigh watching Jack talk to Jamie. I saw Jack turn around, walking towards us. "Jack!" Jamie called, running and giving Jack a hug. I smiled, watching Jack squat down to hug Jamie back. Jack hopped onto the sleigh. "Yah" North commanded his reindeer. I sat on the back of the sleigh looking down at the kids as we faded from their view. My wings weren't out to make room for the other Guardians. Suddenly I'm blown off the end, falling into the cold air. I was about to scream before I felt hands wrap around me. "Jack!" I yelled at him, hitting his shoulder. "What can I say I'm a bloody show pony" Jack teased while. "Well then it's a good thing that the only guy I can kiss is the one I want to" I hummed. "What?" Jack asked before I reached up kissing him on the lips before pulling away and shadow traveling out of his arms. Jack looked in horror when he couldn't find me until he turned around to see me with my wings, flying right next to him. "Looks like I'm not the only show pony" Jack teased while attack me in his arms. He still had to lean down to meet his lips with mine. I could feel my wings fluttering behind me. "Okay you two, back in the sleigh" North called out to us. "Race you" I giggled while flying back to the sleigh. "Oh its on" I heard Jack say behind me.
