First, but Last Night

SARA'S POV

"You can't stay here," Oliver says as he walks back into the room.

"What?" Laurel immediately jumps out of her chair.

"Sara can't stay here," Oliver repeats.

"Why not?" Laurel's face reminded me of when I saw her in court eight years ago. Let's not go into detail about how I ended up there. I don't think her defensive sides are ever going to leave her.

"This will be the first place The League visits on their search." Oliver states.

"No! I just got my sister back, Ollie. It's been eight years! I'm not just going to hand her off so that she can get killed again!" Laurel was about to slap Oliver when I stopped her.

"He's right," I say.

"Sara, no." Laurel pleads.

"Laurel... you and I both know he's right. I can't stay here. I'll just be putting all of your lives in danger." I say.

"Then let me come with you!" Laurel begs.

"No, Laurel. I won't let you risk your life like that. I shouldn't have come back." I say. "I can't leave you alone, weak. You won't be able to protect yourself."

"I can protect myself!" She says.

"Laurel, I said no. Nyssa and the League are too strong for you. They'll kill you if they find you with me." I try to explain.

"What's going on down here?" I hear someone walk down the stairs. "I can hear you guys yelling all the way from upstairs." Someone turns the corner, and I almost freeze.

"Thea?" I ask.

"Oh. My. God." She doesn't move.

"It's me, Thea."

"You're alive?" She still stands frozen. "But how?" She asks before I could respond.

"It's a long story," I say. "I'll explain later." There was a long moment of silence. "How are you, Speedy?" I ask.

"No one is going to let that name go, are they?" Everyone laughed. I went over to hug Thea and kissed her on the head.

"I missed you. We need to hang out before I leave." I say.

"You're leaving? But you just got back." Thea said.

"Like she said... it's a long story. We should have dinner tonight. You need to leave by tomorrow." Oliver says.

I sigh. I knew my stay here wasn't going to be long, but I didn't expect it to be this short. I know Oliver knew stuff about the League, but I didn't know he knew this much. I wonder where he found out all this information. I'd have to ask him before I leave.

"She can't leave tomorrow. She's barely been here!" Laurel hits Oliver.

"The League will find her here if she stays any longer." Oliver rubs his arm where Laurel hit him.

"He's right," I say again.

"I hate it when he's right." Felicity, Laurel, and Thea say at the same time.

"Don't hate on me all at once," Oliver says.

"Hey. I know there's nothing we can do about it unless we want to die, but let's make the most of it and make this night the best night ever. We can even stay up all night if you want." I say.

And so we did. The girls and I spent the entire night talking, and I explained all the things that were going on with Nyssa and I. I told them how I was happy with her and how leaving her crushed my heart, but I couldn't stand the killing anymore. I told them about all the places I've traveled to, and they told me everything I've missed. They explained how Oliver became mayor, which I still don't understand because he is the dumbest person I've ever met in my entire life. He can fight, I'll give him that, but when it comes to any form of intelligence or politics, he fails with flying colors. They also told me that he's still CEO of Queen Consolidated, along with Ray and Felicity.

Laurel insisted on coming with me on the three-hour drive towards National City where I will be spending the next couple of months with my childhood friends Alex and Kara. Life has changed so much in eight years; I can't believe it. People have moved on and are living their life. I found out that Laurel was engaged to Tommy Merlyn and that he passed away right before their wedding. Laurel had reserved the maid of honor spot for me, which I was grateful for. It was a reassuring feeling that everyone still had me in their hearts when I was gone. Now, I hope they'll do the same while I'm in National City and stay away from danger.
