Lessons to teach our daughters:
Remain calm
even when they turn their backs against you,
casting judgement for secrets
they should not know
Don't lose your head.
Be your own romance.
Talk to yourself gently, like you would a small child.
Feed yourself good food and
Forgive yourself easily.
Speak with conviction
even and especially when you are lying
about something important
to save someone's heart from breaking
because you will do this again and again and again.
Stay in your magic, babygirl.
The world is tricky and will try to convince you
that you belong in a small box
not unlike a coffin.
Exist for yourself.
Do not give too much away;
of your power or brilliance.
Apologize only when you have to
but mean every word and do not repeat
the same mistakes
to the same people.
And if you must hide away in a dark room
for many days, reading the sacred texts
of our sisters and mothers, bleeding
but not dying, making
dream magic,
then my daughter,
you must do that.
Daughter, be like the moon
who knows no violence.
She pulls and pushes the salty tears of the ocean
with a never failing ferociousness as
she overwhelms the dark.
She does not fight it.
