The Generals kept on sending us out, despite what anyone said about how little success had been achieved when I recovered I instantly had to go over the top again.

the onslaught carried on, the general did nothing, i had to experience hell over and over again, i had survived the no mans land 3 times now, my whole body ached, it felt like i was going to just collapse and never get up again.

finally, the generals changed the strategy, we had little soldiers and lots of artillery and the artillery wasn't accurate enough to kill , however, it created a lot of smoke, so the plan was that artillery would create a smoke wall allowing the soldiers to advance , every time the soldiers reached the smoke wall, a new wall was made further ahead, this made the perfect cover for the soldiers to slowly walk towards the enemy and we would be right on top of them before they knew it.

the new strategies name was the "Creeping Barrage", the Germans thought it as just anonymous artillery fire but they were wrong, we swiftly reloaded our rifles and attached our bayonets, we got word that the artillery was ready and the explosive landing of the shells was our signal, now we just wait...
