I had begged *David as he left, "Don't forget about us!"
I cried and refused to release him from my arms until the time came. He gently pushed me away. I remember his hands smelling like pine trees in autumn, and his eyes mirrored the ocean after a storm. The scarf I had made to match his eyes hung from his neck.
"I won't forget" He replied while wiping tears from my face. His brows were pinched together, as if he was trying to figure a complex math problem in his head. "I promise."
