Promise

Zac POV

I grabbed her hand and led her to my car. I opened the door for her and shut it behind her, I quickly got into my seat behind the wheel and instantly grasped her hand within mine. I held her hand tightly, holding onto her warmth for dear life. What comforted me the most was that she was holding my hand back just as tight. This gave me hope the whole way home.

She might take me back. Please let her take me back.

When I parked the car in the driveway of my old house I stayed motionless. Thinking about all my memories here and how the love of my life is sitting beside me and I don't even know if she is going to take me back or not.

I feel her gaze on me, but I don't dare to move an inch. Afraid if I do I'll ruin my chances. "Zac?" Charlie asks quietly, she puts her free hand on top of mine which is still holding onto her. "hmm?" I question. "Let's go inside, we've been sitting here for ten minutes..." I hadn't even realized it was that long, I simply nodded and slowly let go of her hand. We walked into the house and I just gazed around. I closed the door behind me and my eyes fell on Charlie who was watching me.

"Charlie.." I whispered.

"Yeah?" she asked. "You need to know the reason I left." I looked down at my shoes as I talked, she led me to the couch and sat a foot away from me. I felt cold without her next to me. "Please. Tell me." she begged as tears started to fall.

"I- I didn't want to leave you. I just wanted you to live a normal life. My manager told me to prepare, for everything to change. He told me I was going to have to get used to having no privacy or being followed around. I didn't want you to have to go through that. I know it's- it's selfish of me to now come back and beg for you back. But I'll do anything to get you- you back. I love you so much. You'll always be the one. I can't take not being with you anymore. Please, forgive me, please." I pleaded and cried. She leaned into my side and put her face in my neck. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her into me.

She loosened the hug so my arms were lightly around her waist, she placed her hands on my face, "I forgive you." My face lit up and she laughed, I leaned in and kissed her, she deepened it and in this moment I couldn't be happier as we smiled.

Charlie's POV

I lay there on my love's chest, after years of being apart, we could never be closer than in this moment. I haven't smiled this much in one day in a long time. "Charlie?" I hummed in response. "I ha-have something I want t-to give you.." I sat up, confused and waited for him to continue. He sat up and pulled a box out of his pocket. Opening the box revealing a beautiful ring, he said, "I love you Charlie. Don't worry, it's just a promise ring, in which one day I will replace with a wedding ring. I just love you soo much and I'm so sorry for everything I've put you through, I only meant to protect you but I failed I know. I messed up, and I promise to you that I will protect you forever on now. I will do anything for you. I promise to love you forever. To get you whatever your heart desires. To make sure you know just how beautiful you are. To hold you and help you through anything. I promise. Do you accept my promise, my beautiful Charlie Dare?"
