Hello everyone.

I would just like to acknowledge some of my wonderful friends before I go on.

First of all,

Padfoot4eva, you are an amazing friend and a great writer. I am so lucky to call you my friend and I hope you know how much I care about you.

PotterLupinBlack, let's get serious for a moment- you are freaking awesome. I love your writing as well as your taste in fandoms and ships. JEANMARCO FOR THE WIN!!

SharonZav, you are one of the nicest people I have ever met, and you're amazing.

Bookworms56, I love you two to death, and I'm so glad you like the book. :)

Everyone who likes Harry Potter, check out Lonely Lullaby, by Padfoot4eva and Our Little Cliché, by PotterLupinBlack. And for other good reads, check out SharonZav's fic-borderline-novel Checkerboard, because it's hella amazing.

If you like Grey's Anatomy check out my book Brigadier, especially if you like people saving lives.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN BATMAN OR ANY COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS.

I own Archangel, Scarlett Donovan and various other original characters.

Now, I love Batman and pretty much all DC Comics, so I decided to write a Robin Love Story. Originally, it was going to be a Batman Love Story, but Batman doesn't have enough emotion to love. It's like crushing on a water bottle and being pissed off that it doesn't like you back.

I also like Dick Grayson better than Tim Drake, despite his name. Don't hate. Dick Grayson was created in the fifties, so that's why his name is Dick. I hope you like this story and feedback is always welcome. I have tried very hard to make this story as not cliché as possible. FYI, the main character of the story is an OC and is on Team Good Guy. :)

I think that because this story has a slightly religious aspect to it, I'd start this chapter with a Bible verse.

Enjoy!

'For I know the plans that I have for you,' Declares The Lord. 'Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope, and a future.'

Jeremiah 29:11

"Mommy, mommy!" Shouted a little girl who couldn't be more than six, with short, curly red pigtails. She yanked her mother's arm over to the display of fancy, expensive running shoes that lit up when you walked in them. "Look at those shoes!" They were white, with Velcro and little pink stars on them, in addition to the motion-activated lights.

"Wow Scarlett, they're so pretty!" said her mother.

"Can I try them on? Can I? Can I?" Scarlett begged. Her mother paused, looking at the price.

They were very expensive. Scarlett's mother Kaylee Donovan knew if she tried them on, she would beg until her mother bought them, and if she didn't, she would most certainly throw a tantrum. Kaylee bit her lip, looking into her daughters big, blue pleading eyes, and then decided she could probably swing it.

"Okay, honey." Kaylee flagged down a sales assistant, and asked for the shoes in Scarlett's size. Scarlett literally bounced with joy whilst her mother pulled off her normal, boring, pink shoes and replaced them with the special white ones.

"Why don't you walk around in those, see how they fit." suggested the sales clerk, whose name tag read "Amber". Scarlett leapt off the bench, and squeaked in excitement, seeing the lights light up. She began doing laps around the display stand, the shoes squeaking on the the polished while tiled floor.

"Walk, Scarlett." Kaylee called gently. The little girl did as she was told, and slowed to a brisk, excited power walk over the shining white tiles. "Are these the ones you want, Scarlett?"

"Oh, yes!" Scarlett bounced over and wrapped her arms around Kaylee's legs. "Please, mommy." She smiled up at her greying mother.

"Alright. Lets take them off so mommy can buy them."

"Can I wear them home? Please?" Kaylee looked to Amber.

"Can she do that?"

"Yes ma'am." Amber replied. "Just bring up the box for them to scan when you check out."

"Okay then." Kaylee said. She bent down and put her daughter's old shoes in the box and took her hand, heading out of the shoe section.

"Thank you." She called to Amber as they left. The Donovans went into the children's clothes section, and picked out a few shirts on sale for Scarlett and then went to the ladies clothes section. Kaylee combed through a the clearance racks, and then Scarlett got away from her mother. She tried to be sneaky, hiding inside a large rack of dresses, not far from her mother. Kaylee caught on, and pretended to look for her.

"Oh Scarly!" She called tiptoeing around the rows of items. "Where are you, my pretty?"

Kaylee added, knowing "The Wizard of Oz" was Scarlett's new favourite movie, as she wouldn't stop talking about it since the day before. Scarlett squealed with laughter, and her mother came over, laughing as well. Kaylee scooped her up into her arms, and kissed her on the cheek. "Lets go check out, okay, honey?"

"Okay mommy." Scarlett squeaked. Kaylee put her down and they walked to the cash register hand in hand.

Suddenly, they heard a loud "boom" from below them, accompanied by a physical rumble.

Everyone looked to their feet.

"What was that?" Kaylee asked aloud. Scarlett waddled a little closer to her mother, holding her leg.

"Mommy, what was that?" Her voice quivered. Kaylee was worried, too. She didn't know what it was. Half of her thought it could have been some kind of explosion. The other half thought a possible earthquake.

"I don't know, sweetie." In a flash, another explosion went off in the basement. Scarlett looked down, eyes wide in horror as the floor caved in and she fell.

...

The building had collapsed, trapping hundreds of civilians. Someone had set two bombs off in the basement of the two story mall. A wooden beam had stabbed Scarlett directly in the chest, dangerously close to her heart. She had been knocked unconscious, close to death.

"Scarlett! SCARLETT!?" Kaylee screamed frantically, listening for her child. Scarlett wasn't anywhere to be found. Kaylee herself had a hard time focusing; a huge piece of the wall was on top of her, making it hard to breathe. She couldn't feel her lower body.

"Oh God." Kaylee murmured. "H-hello?" She began coughing violently, blood spewing out of her mouth.

She tried to lie still, ignoring the pain over every bone in her body broken. Kaylee could no longer feel her legs. It was too late for her, and she knew it. She hoped Scarlett still had a chance, so she decided to pray.

"Dear God," she thought. "Please let Scarlett be alright, I am begging you. You can take me, but you cannot take her. Redeem everything good I have ever done in my life and use it for her benefit, please."

Kaylee's breathing become shallower, and there was a growing pressure in her chest. She closed her eyes and pictured her daughter running around the children's shoe section, smiling brightly. Her lips curved into a smile before the her last breath left her broken body.

Scarlett however, was still alive. The Lord heard Kaylee's prayer, and looked down on her daughter. It wasn't the only one He heard from that pile of rubble, but she was special. Scarlett wasn't meant to die there. God had plans for her. So He sent down the Archangel Gabriel to save her. Gabriel removed the beam from her chest and touched her forehead, healing her instantly. Scarlett then emerged from the flaming rubble completely unscathed, not a scratch on her body, and with a newfound ability.

Healing.
