Second Foul

It was my second day in school, freshman year.

I was flipping through my schedule dahil inaalam ko saang classroom na dapat ako pupunta.

I bumped into the most gorgeous guy in the world and he smiled at me even though I kind of bumped into him really hard.

He was about 6 feet, athletic in build, had really bushy eyebrows but his eyes weren't the typical brown color – they looked like they had flecks of gold.

He asked if I got hurt, apologized and even offered to show me the direction to where I was going.

That's how I met Kim "Hero" Jaejoong.

And that's why I learned everything I could about him and decided to apply for the open Student Manager position in the basketball team when I learned na he's the Head SM.

He loved basketball and was very passionate about it but after failing to make it into the team, he decided he would support it by being one of the guys in the backseat.

Lalo ko siyang nirespect at nagustuhan because of his dedication pero no one knows about my feelings for him until... today that is.

"Bakit ka may suot na singsing?" one of the guys asked Kuya Hero while everyone was resting from the drills and all of us managers were busy going around, picking up towels that will be thrown in to the laundry basket.

He smiled. "Bigay nang girlfriend ko."

The whole floor exploded.

"MAY GIRLFRIEND KA NA?!?!??!?!!?!?!?" I found myself shouting along with everyone else.

Kuya Hero smiled, his dimples further deepening, "Kahapon lang."

I felt something inside me shatter as he was bombarded with questions.

My windpipe started to tighten lalo nang madinig ko na ni hindi niya niligawan yung girl.

"Inamin niya kase sa akin na gusto niya ako kaya yun..." he said in almost a hush that everyone could still hear.

"Ano itsura?!?! Patingin nang girlfriend mo!"

"Sana may umamin din sa akin na crush nila ako!"

"Uy ang ganda!"

"Hero, iba ka talaga!"

Everyone piped up excitedly pero wala akong ibang maramdaman kundi gusto ko mawala at umalis na muna sa gym.

Kailangan ko huminga.

Kailangan ko lumabas.

How could he have a girlfriend out of the blue?!?!?!

Paano siya pumayag maging boyfriend nang isang babae na ni hindi man lang niya niligawan?!?!?!

At bakit agad agad e may suot na siya na singsing?!?!

I stood up from where I was seated.

Buti na lang hindi naman ako napansin nang mga tao dahil busy na busy sila na makipagkulitan tungkol sa bagong girlfriend ni Kuya Hero.

I headed straight for the locker room where I was sure no one else would be and just felt my legs shake as I collapsed like a deflated balloon on the floor.

I've liked Kuya Hero for more than a year now.

And all that time he's never had a girlfriend.

He's never even made a side comment about girls to show he's interested in anyone beyond acknowledging na maganda sila. I knew all that because I was always beside him. HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN SO SUDDENLY?!?! HOW DID I NOT SEE IT?!?!?!

"Napakatanga mo Dara. Dapat pala ikaw na lang ang umamin sa kanya!" I told myself sullenly.

"May gusto ka kay Kuya Hero?"

Umatras lahat nang luha ko and looked up to see no other than Kwon Jiyong standing at the locker room entrance to my horror.

"Anong pinagsasasabi mo dyan?!?!" I lashed out at him.

"Woah! Kanina lang iiyak ka na ah, Ate Dara."

Lalo akong nairita.

"Ewan ko anong pinagsasasabi mo!"

"Wala namang masama kung may gusto ka kay Kuya Hero e. Nabigla lang siguro ako kase hindi ko ine-expect na ikaw na super taray e may crush pala."

"Hindi ba ako tao? Hindi ba normal yun?!?!"

As soon as those words were out my mouth, muntik ko sapakin ang sarili ko sa naging sagot ko. That was as good as admitting na I really did like Kuya Hero.

GD's left eyebrow lifted. "So... gusto mo nga si Kuya Hero."

"HINDI NGA! ANG KULIT!" I shouted at him and headed back to the gym floor.

All the time I was walking towards the gym, gusto ko sumigaw. BAKIT LORD SA LAHAT PA NANG MAKAKAALAM E YUNG BATANG MAYABANG NA YUN?!?!??!?!?!?!

BAKA BUKAS WALA NA AKONG MUKHA NA IHAHARAP KAHIT KANINO!

I can imagine him bragging to everyone how he learned of my feelings for Kuya Hero. NAKAKAINIS!!!!!!
