SAM'S POV
I opened the door of my house and welcomed the sweet smell of alcohol and vomit. Note the sarcasm. My mum was as usual passed out on the couch. Her left hand clutching a bottle of alcohol. Tears stung my eyes as I saw her. What happened to us, we used to be close friend, she was my everything. But now? Now I highly doubt she remembers my name. I walked to my room. I hurriedly took a shower, changed my clothes. I walkes to the small vanity mirror beside my bed. I made my self comfortable as i started to apply makeup, not that i was trying to impress someone, okay maybe a little bit. Who knows i might get lucky. I finally finished my makeup and stared at myself jn the mirror, i had brushed my ling wavy black hair till it shone, i applied mascara and a little nude eyeshadow to make my blue eyes sharper an bolder. I finished of the look with pink lipstick.
I quickly walked to my book cabinent and took a fairy tale book out. Then I slipped out the front door and headed to the Kimball's residence.
The fairytale book was part of my plan to make Lucy warm up to me. Her attitude to me yesterday was frosty. I knew it had nothing to do with me, Lucy just hates babysitters, but I took it personal.
In order words, my plan was to get Lucy to like me, and when she likes me, Max will like me also and we will live happily ever after. The End.
When I got to the Kimball's residence, the little hope I'd been nurturing died when I saw Lucy's face.
She was giving me the most hateful glare and hissed with contempt, before storming upstairs to her room- I guess. I was glad she was not the one that opened the door for me.
"Ignore her, she behaves like this to every babysitter." a spine chilling voice said.
I turned around to see Jake King in all his glory standing behind me. His messy blonde hair giving the impression that he had run his hand through it, a million times. He was wearing all black and his blue eyes were twinkling.
"Are you okay?"
That voice again. Cue internal swooning. Then I realized I've been staring at him a second too long, I blushed beet red and nodded my head.
He moved closer to me, too close infact. He peered at my face intently before breaking into a wide grin.
"You are that girl? The girl Kenz brought to our table?" He asked while folding his hand on his chest.
I nodded again. His grin stretched wider.
" I didn't get your name earlier.." He trailed off while rubbing the back of his ear.
Awwn! He was shy, that made me a lot bolder.
"Sam."
He arched an eyebrow "Sam, isn't that a boy's name?"
For once in my life, I wasn't angry someone likened my name to a boy's name, instead I smiled sweetly. "Its also a girl's name, short for Samantha."
His cheeks were a little pink "I knew that.." He said trying to cover up his embarrassment.
"Yeah you did buddy" Lucy said sarcastically as she tapped him twice on his stomach, while passing his side. Apparently the royal highness, decided to finally grace us with her presence.
Jake coughed awkwardly "Since you are going to babysit the little witch of the West-"
"I heard that!" Lucy retorted loudly while rummaging the fridge.
Jake rolled his eyes "I've got some advice for you. One, never accept any edibles for her. Two, don't let her trick you into her room. Three, avoid body contact with her."
